After the bags degrade, the flies would soon set upon the poop (and probably on the degrading poop bags as well) to lay their eggs. We would then be plagued with disease carrying flies. Hospital costs needed to treat diseased pet owners and non owners alike (including children) would soar. Area spraying with carcinogenic insecticides to control the then existent fly problem would be even worse. Oh well, let's look at the GOOD side. We are all going to die anyway. Ronald

Ronald Ok, Mr. doom and gloom; what is the answer, euthanize all companion animals that poop? So,have an open mind and think about it..how about this! put the toilet-wrapped poo in a "poo pail" and dump the contents in the toilet when you get home. But save that flush for when the toilet is next used;no extra H20 waste:) Hey, we do many things for the privilege of having a companions animal in our lives. We can learn to be more green. It's long overdue!

Sorry I remember the 70's and it was the environMentalists who forced the plastic bags on us with "Save a Tree"! Too late and no take backs. Plastic bags have proved to be one of the most sucessful multi-use items around and we're keeping them. Recycle people and don't buy plastic trash bags! And NO, we're not falling for those mercury poisoned "green" light bulbs either.

Ronald So no plastic poop bags and ALL the flies DIE off? What great logic...

The "environmentalists" did NOT force plastic bags on you. They are offered and people make the choice to use them . It's cost effective for stores to use plastic bags. If we were good stewards of the earth, there wouldn't be enviormentists. OK,so back to a solution for a poop disposal method for your companion animal.Read what I wrote about using a pooh pooh pail and flushing that poop to the same place you flush your own! Unless it's toooo inconveeeenient:0

I seem to recall it was also the noisy Government sponsored food activists who convinced a gullible public that Big Food should replace healthy saturated fats with dangerous trans fats in their products. It surely is just coincidental that the profits of Big Food soared after they were able to replace healthy, but more costly, butter ingredients with dangerous, but cheap, laboratory produced trans fat ingredients. Well,As I stated, plastic bags were not FORCED upon us. We have all had choices. It's up to us to thoughtfully evaluate them and make the environmentally responsible ones.

Ralphs supermarket gave out free canvas totes after the law passed and now they give you "points" or a discount for using the bags. Works out quite well, a very smart, proactive solution. And as the grocers say, a win-win situation. Only the nabobs of negativism and the plastic bag lobby would be against this. Ugh, gross. It turns out that hippie grocery bags are no less filthy than the hippie foods that people put into them. And what you end up with is a wet, dirty pocket of disease that you proudly tote your uncooked meats in. You might as well cart your food around in a toilet. Swab-testing by two independent laboratories found unacceptably high levels of bacteria, yeast, mold and coliform counts in the reusable bags http://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/green/Reusable...

Spot-On...EXCELLENT post! When a liberal dribbles "proactive, socially responsible, forward thinking, and progressive processes," it's past time for the courtesy flush.
