House fire in Malden last night

Does any one know where the house fire was in Malden last night news just west of Malden.

Yes it was the meppiel residence neighbors of ours! It's sad Malden ran outa water an there is no hydrants any where in site! Thank god everyone is safe an got out ok but the next house may not be so lucky there needs to be plenty of water supply for all especially since it's so dry an I'm sure there will be more fires

The house fire I know of was in a subdivision off of J Hwy, about 2 miles past Chambers motors. I am a neighbor of this lady and it saddens my heart. A home can be replaced, but memories cannot. Thank God her and her granddaughter made it out safe and sound. She has lost everything. She was asleep when the fire broke out and a neighbor woke her up. They were fighting the fire until about 2:45 am. It was the scairest thing I have ever seen. I heard that the fire started in the attic, but that is not certain.

Well regardless of where it started it could have been put out sooner dont u agree if they have had plenty of water I mean come on Malden it's a house fire an it's so dry make sure you are prepared these things. An yes it was very scary I was very saddened they lost everything but am glad they got out and the fire didn't spread to the rest of our subdivision

To (Citezen) dont start on the Malden Fire Dept, those trucks will only hold a certain amt of water, and since the county does not have water hydrants, the Malden trucks have too return to Malden for more water. The Malden Fire Dept feels bad about this situation also. and regrets the lose the family will suffer . will pray for family.

I didn't say it was firemans fault I said malden should be prepared so shut the hell up

I think i was only explaining what they had to work with, no disrespect to you, but your such an ass. and as for me shutting up, no way in hell!

Well I wasn't criticizing the firemen them self I was just stating that Malden in general lack the ability of alot

If you think you could have done a better job maybe you should be on the fire department. I know they worked with what they had and done the best they could. In my opinion, the fire dept is heavily overlooked until they are needed.

In my personal opinion, the fire department did the best they could with the resources they had. You can only prepare to a certain point. I watched them from the moment the fire started to the moment it was over. Again, this is only my opinion, and I'm entitled to it, but I think they did a good job.

Citezen, you say tht Malden in general lack the ability of "alot". You actually have no idea what other communities are like, apparently. I have resided in several other towns around and I'll have you know that Malden has one of the best emergency systems in the bootheel. Dexter's is terrible as is Poplar Bluff's. They don't care. I'd put Malden's police, firefighters, and emts up against others in the bootheel any day.

Just remember, that subdivision is not even in the city limits, so they were lucky to get response as quickly as they did and with the water supply being non-existant out there it had to be replentished. Water is heavy and makes it difficult for a vehicle that large to move very fast. Jimbo is correct.....the dept is overlooked and gets no thanks after it's over.....just criticized and ignored until the next time they're needed.

If we could get rid of the "city administrator" in malden that the tax payers are giving $100,000 salary to each year, maybe the departments that need stuff would then have the money to do so. Since when does a town of 5,000 people need a administrator that gets paid that much?!?!?!?! Madness!!!!

The city administrator is way over paid and not needed for Malden, but that has nothing to do with the fire dept being able to obtain water in the county ,the county water board should put in water hydrants for their customers saftey. so they would be made available to the fire dept.

how did this topic get to the city administrator,he has no control where the fire dept goes or their supervision

I AGREE is absolutely correct. The county needs to step up and be responsible for "country" citizens. If they'd had hydrants it would have made a big difference not only in Wednesday night's fire, but in many other cases.

please everyone be nice im on the mfd and it saddens our hearts for someone to lose anything at all we are like you all we have day jobs and families at home and those tones goes off at night and we roll to become a 2nd family and wok together to savee a life a house anything i think we do a good job and we try our hardest we care about our citizens to see mena dn women tear up bc a picure they lost or whatever it hurts us tooso please bear in time of needs and lets all join in together and become a town that all will want to join in

You all do a fine job and we are grateful to have you willing to serve the community the way you do. It is a dangerous job at times.....I have had to call a couple of times and the response was fantastic. So a big thank you to all emergency personnel!!!

I'm sorry if it looked like I was bashing u I wasn't I was just sayin with all the taxes Malden have on everthing then every subdivision should have hydrants so this problem won't happen everything you guys do is wonderful bc your job is so risky Malden is sorry in genreal

Where do you get your information about Poplar Bluff's emergency system. My husband was a city fireman for many years and they were great. He completed his schooling at Columbia University. It was mandatory for firefighters. He always told me if someone was breaking in on me to call them. They would be there in less than four minutes. He knew a policeman would get there quick and we were his family. I never had to, but it was good to know that our emergency team was that fast. A fire department is one of your greatest assets, so be good to them.

The fire was not in Malden so they are not going to give up their money to build hydrants outside their jurisdiction.
