I like Mike, but seriously? He is still a bit wet behind the ears in law. I guess it is who you know, just like in everything else.

Congrats, Mike. You'll be a welcome addition to the Seminole County bench.

Mr. Rudisill might be a nice guy but what qualifications does he have to be a circuit judge? 7 years of spotty criminal practice and he is going into a position on the civil/domestic bench where he will be making profound decisions affecting people's lives and their children. Judge Meryl Allawas in Brevard County failed under very similar circumstances. This is nothing other than a rank political appointment by a Governor who is a political whore. Can you spell hypocrisy. This political appointment by a Governor "dedicated to diversity" to fill Judge Perry's seat demeans his legacy.
Meryl Allawas failed because she was arrogant and unorganized. The Brevard County bar revolted en masse against her. Bashing the Governor who just appointed Judge Perry to the Supreme Court because his next appointment wasn't "diverse" is ridiculous. You look at "diverse" as code for black. Most of us look at "diverse" as people of all colors.

In Orange County, white candidates now count as minority appointments.

I know Mike and as someone else commented he is a nice guy and an adequate attorney. But given the list of applicants, starting with the original 27, almost every attorney I know was shocked he was on the list of six names. He had commented to friends before the first round of Tallahassee interviews (with his former roommate)that he had the position. Everyone in the court system knows this is political old boy network politics and Dave we also know you were one of Rudisill's law school classmates.
Wrong. I didn't go to UF for law school. |
Oops, sorry, I meant undergrad classmates. You were in New Orleans at the time I do agree with you on one thing he is certainly not Meryl Allawas. I am happy you are able to support your friend, please continue to do so.
Well, since you obviously know who I am, you might as well say who you are. |
The question is: Just what can this fresh faced lad (or his family and friends)do for Charlie's up coming Senate campaign? Answer that and then you'll see just why he was selected. That's the only metric that perpetually self interested Crist knows. Qualifications have nothing to do with the choice.

As a member of the Central Florida legal community I am embarrassed that something like this happened. Rudisill is arrogant for even applying for a job that he is obviously unqualified. Rudisill was a prosecutor for a scant 3 years and litigated mainly misdemeanor crimes, then for the last 3 years he has been the "do boy" for Hal Uhrig. One would think that in order to be a trial judge you need some actual trial experience, silly me. It is equally troubling that our good governor would make this appointment.

Disappointed! Horrified is more like it. Wish I had been Gonzalez's roommate, gone fishing with the gov. or a cigar smoking friend of the boys. Guess this means justice will not be blind.

sad day for citizens in seminole county

good. this person may not be a know it all a$$. good luck.

REPLYING TO ALL I know Mike personally, like him personally, and don't know him legally (I am also an attorney)and I also know him to be a kiss ass. He is most likely not the best qualified candidate for the job however the other remaining candidates were 62 and 55. How long are they likely to remain on the bench? Mike will do a good job. He is known to his friends as Maximum Mike. He will serve the people well even if he may be less experienced than other candidates. Give him a chance to prove himself. |
So, it is conceded then: Mediocrity triumphs due to kissing up (or other factors unrelated to job qualifications). But that's OK because he is younger and therefore can be mediocre for longer than the other candidates. This is a sad indictment of our society at large. Time to look for Galt's Gulch. |
totally agree. experience should be the most important factor |

Judged:
1 Too bad that is NOT the case in either Tallahassee or D.C.. Clearly neither one of us has a "wise latina's soul". So, we are destined to carry on with our incorrect--idealistic even--thinking. More's the pity |
Now you've all got me worried as he is the new Judge on my case. Will he bring enough experience to the bench to try a case fair and unbalanced? Can I Motion for a different judge???
