Woman attacked outside Casselberry Target store
A woman was attacked Monday night in the parking lot of a Casselberry business during an attempted purse-snatching. Police said the suspect used a stolen credit card hours earlier at a different Casselberry store.

Here is the sad thing...they have her on camera, they know she committed (or at least attempted) multiple thefts, but there will be some lawyer that will take the case and get her off using some type of loophole and/or sympathetic judge.

This is the fallacy of political correctness. The Sentinel is notorious for NOT describing suspects who are later known to be African-American. This causes a backlash by concerned citizens who really do have a right to help apprehend these criminals. So it becomes a "hate-fest" caused not by the race of the perpetrator, but by the PC attitude of the reporter. |

The reason, Becca, is because 95 percent of the time, the crimes ARE perpetrated by someone belonging to a "minority" group of one ethnicity or another. Most of the purse snatchings are done by blacks, most of the carjackings are done by blacks, most of the home burglaries these days are done by Hispanics, etc... IF there were more whites GETTING CAUGHT doing these things, perhaps it wouldn't be such a "hate fest" as you put it. But that's not the way it's going, is it??? Which leads us to the inevitable question.... Are the white criminals so much smarter that they just don't get caught, or are there just not so many whites committing these sorts of crimes??? But, anyway, presentation colors perception, so the saying goes. Minorities don't like to be profiled, but they never seem to do anything to police themselves so that WE feel less motivated to profile them. They have no one to blame for the situation but themselves, and since they seem to so much like claiming victim status, throwing the race card whenever something doesn't go their way, that's the way it's likely to continue. |

I agree - if the perp were a white middle-class lady who lived in a gated community it would have been mentioned. It doesn't make it right. Criminals are criminals, no matter what color they are. |

The days of "I shouldn't have to feel unsafe" are o-ver. The 'have nots" are becoming bolder, and it's not going to get any better any time soon. Habits such as going to an ATM or walking into a parking lot after dark are now just not smart, and often avoidable. Women, if someone is walking toward you in a parking lot, turn around and walk back to the store. An additonal 5 minutes could make a big difference. Don't hesitate to tell someone to not come any closer. I carry pepper spray and a taser. Not a gun. But sometimes just using good judgement is better protection than anything else.

If you have a concealed weapons permit defending yourself from a forceable felony with a firearm is legal and is certainly not murder. Check the law! Had it been my wife, she would have, and should have shot and killed this criminal! |
