They have this kind of animal to impress their friends, I guess. And "what happens if they get out?" Well, you folks in Florida have a whole lot of non-native reptiles around from what I've seen on various animal shows, so I guess the "escapees" survive! Really pathetic.

How come you don't have anti-venom available through a vet or hospital if you are going to own venemous animals?Shouldn't you think about that ahead of time? Obviously, since he does have a permit, there should be a remedy available for venemous animals that you own in case something like this does happen. Seems like a no-brainer to me!

"The snake has been identified as an Indian cobra". I hope they caught the critter, if not I just saw it driving in a Ford down I-4.

Please wait...
Willoughby, spiders and scorpions are "venomous" as well as they inject their toxins...
The term "poisonous" only applies to critters and animals that have adverse toxins that are applied to other beings through their ingestion or physical contact with the toxin produced by the critter or animal in question...

I checked the map of venomous snakes and it doesn't show Disney on there anywhere, but I'm pretty sure they have some venomous snakes at Animal Kingdom. Why are they not on the map? Does this mean they do not have a permit?

He must have been apart of the "Cobras Not Bombs" organization that was formed by the members of "Food Not Bombs."
The goal is to provide free venomous snakes to people in "conformist" neighborhoods to breed and release in to the wild to replenish the population. Feeding the homeless and giving Mother Nature's creatures back... It really is a wonderful thing they are doing!

Common Sense wrote: Does he have medical insurance? Am I paying his tab? In one way you have been paying his tab right along as your tax dollars help support the Miami organization that is rushing anti-venin to a Central Florida hospital. The Indian cobra, AKA the King Cobra is among the most dangerous (to man) creatures on earth. It's bite, while not always deadly, can leave the victim "crippled" for the remainder of a shortened life. The greater question is why these creatures and others are allowed to be traded as chattel in a nation that has come to respect wildlife? A few months ago, a fellow in my area was found to have over one hundred exotic snakes in his home including a few King Cobras and several known to be far deadlier, he too had a permit, my question then and now is WHY?
