Tingley shouted to a crowd assembled on Oct. 15, 1936 in the recently completed WPA-built armory, using a slur against the WPA to make his point. "I don't know what the word means, but I do know that as your governor, I would be willing to mortgage this state to the last penny to prevent any family from starving."
What an amazing statement! How sad that now all we get for governor in New Mexico is a man who's only agenda is to further his joke of a political career!

Morgan Hall, built as a WPA Project during the Depression era is now home to the Deming Performing Arts Theater on East Pine Street.
