I'm writing an article for a local paper about the marijuana scene among the 50 and older crowd in Albuquerque, New Mexico. There are no parameters, no rules or requirements, I just need sources, preferably those who have or have had careers, raised families and generally fit the "normal" category, who will talk to a reporter about why they smoke marijuana.
The focus of the story is, as yet, undefined. I would like those who fit this criteria (pot smoker, 50 and older) simply to talk about their experiences, whether or not they are public about, and if not, why not? I want to know frequency, occasions and quantities. Mostly, I want to see how popular marijuana is among the less traditional demographics.

If you are interested in going on the record, we can exchange phone numbers via private e-mail.

Thank you

Haha. No. Not a narc. But those who don't smoke are welcome to join the discussion as well.

"marijuana scene"? "pot smokers"? "they are public about" (about what? You didn't finish the sentence.) And the focus of the story is, as yet, undefined? People over fifty don't use the phrase "marijuana scene". If you are writing for a legitimate publication, you do not use the slang word "pot". Is this an article that you have contracted, or do you intend to shop it? Is this your own idea or is it an assignment? I don't worry about my confidentiality, I am concerned with your professionalism. I might be willing to do it, but I want more detail before I give you my e.mail address.

I don't smoke marijuana, tobacco, or anything. Inhaling any kind of smoke is unhealthy. The public health carnage caused by the legal and socially acceptable tobacco is horrific. I would like to see a study on the risks for emphyzema and lung cancer caused by pot smoking.

Katia,
"about it," was the cut-off of that sentence. I apologize. This is for a legitimate publication, and I can fill you in on it more. Sorry for any lingo that doesn't suit your style. I'm rather new to this non-"scene."
As for your dispute with professionalism, it is the job of a good reporter to go into a story without an agenda. I would like my sources to direct the conversation. From the interviews, I will then draw connections, such as the ones stated -- reasons for smoking, frequency, amount, as well as any other topics that are of interest to the sources. One question I might ask you, specifically, is "Do you experience the stereotypical paranoia often associated with marijuana use?" But I guess I already know the answer to that question, given your response.

Thanks
So that

Right you are. I am willing to discuss this concept further with you. The angle is interesting and timely, to be sure. I just don't get how to do the personal e.mail part without posting it on here, but then, I don't know much about the internet at all. By the way, I have done quite a bit of research regarding the 10-30 minutes of paranoia that is a common characteristic of inhaling marijuana. The same chemicals are released in the body that are released at the onset of a panic attack. One interesting aside is, the marajuana paranoia is commen to both sexes, while it is primarily women who experience panic attacks.

It must be discouraging to read the posts that do not address your specific request. As I said, I'm willing to talk to you, but I need to know how it can be done without using this site. Or, if you are willing to go with anonymity, people may be willing to interact using this site. I encourage you to give this project your best effort.

Katia, becareful about posting your e-mail on any public site. Telephoning is just another way people can invade your domain. You are doing a piece of the use of marijuana and that is great, please becareful for your own sake....people have a different agenda to all things and it may not fit yours. Have you tried calling places like Turguoise Lodge or the poison control center? You could obtain lots of statistics and possibly more....

Oh, I know, S.W. I'm not the one writing the article, Reporter is, and I was willing to assist if I didn't have to give up either my e.mail address or my telephone # on this site or any other. Despite my confirmation(s) that I would assist Reporter, he/she, as you can see, has not as yet responded. It seems to me that "time is of the essence", and it behooves Reporter to reply a.s.a.p. if (s)he is committed to this project. Thanks for your input. You are always so bright and helpful. I appreciate it so much when I hear from you.

I will tell you I abhor racism and bigotry, and I will jump on anyone that makes any racial slurs. Now given that, I don't think that Katia is a racist, I think that she is just having a hard time, for whatever reason, and that maybe she ia foreign to our culture. I have read some of her threads, and yes there was some things that I called her on, but as I explained to her that just because someone with a hispanic surname does wrong, that it is wrong to judge the whole race by the actions of a few. I honestly think that for whatever reason or difficulty she is having in her life at this time, I feel we need to show compassion. There are alot of us on this forum having a difficult time in life right now, I lost my partner of 20 years in July, and this is a difficult time for me. As I said I don't know what her situation is, but instead of getting angry with her let's try showing her what our culture really is.
Tell me when this thread is updated!

Daily Horoscope for December 28

Capricorn

This is a marvellous day for having a discreet word in someone's ear. You'll be able to choose your words carefully, making you very tactful and considerate, and as a result you will have a helpful conversation. This is also a good opportunity to talk about topics that are very dear to your heart, or which are usually too private to mention.
