Niota has a new mayor after Monday night's meeting as Mayor Martha Walden submitted a letter of resignation and city commissioners then agreed with her suggestion in her letter to appoint Cecil Black as her replacement.

I wouldn't want his job right now, he's got a lot to clean up. And the hardest part (like you said) is earning the trust of the citizens. I do hope that people will not hold the "Walden era" against him and give him a chance to do something good for our town AND hopefully prove himself to be trustworthy.

That's all I want, people on the board to be trustworthy AND not use their positions for harrassment of other citizens. We all deserve that.

I don't agree with all she has done but
I WILL respect the lady for having the guts to toss herself to the "vipers" and teach us "vipers" she will be heard and why she done what she done. I would bet you a dime to a dollar that if she was mayor that the meetings would be long and boring .but the citizens would be heard (as long as he/she was to the point and not babbling on about crazy crap)

and Honey Blonde, if you would read the comments correctly, 37826 never made personal derrogatory remarks to anyone.

I ALONE made the nasty, but truthful, comment. And I will not do that again. Once I had "the close accounter" to stepping to your level, it felt horrible. That 5 minute experience made me realize that you are a very angry and unhappy person inside and how damn lucky I am to be me :)

Please allow me to ask a question.There are commisioners of each dept.(Right.) So what is there job. I mean if we have a problem, should we not go and let the commisioners know so that they can go to the mayor and try to work it out. Instead of jumping on the mayor directly. Is that not part of what the commisioners do. If its not what exactly do they do?? Im not being mean or ugly here. I would just like someone to explain the commisioners jobs please.

concerned. that was the problem when mrs. waldon was mayor. they went to her with all the problems instead of taking it to the right commishioner. then when she would tell them to go to them. they thought she should always fix the problem. i would hate to have my phone ringing off the wall all the time.
