OMG, that is so funny but true. What is up with them hauling kids around in those old beat up vans anyway? I sure wouldn't let my kids ride around like that. Don't they have to be inspected if they haul kids?

If you would let your kids ride a school bus then why wouldn't you let them ride in a van? The vans have seatbelts for all the passengers. School buses don't unless your kids are riding the short bus

Between the smell, nasty carpet, and food and drink stains, who wouldn't want their kids in those vans?(rolling my eyes) Seat belts won't protect you against staph infection.

It's definitely not free...I've spent a lot of money there! My kid just started and loves it.I am very impressed with Hayes' knowledge and professionalism!

Troy Hayes is just like his brother Ron Hayes. Both are full of themselves. The want you to think that they are bad a$$es but in reality they are just two washed up old men.

you need to come down and do some sparing with that washed up man lol. See if you say that after he swells your eyes shut lol. To be trained by Hayes is to be trained by the best, where do you think Myers started at?

Little grasshopper "it's not where you start, rather where you finish."

Your logic would be like saying even though I graduated at UK, I owe all of my credit to Pride elementary.

Hayes and Myers are cousins. Myers does make you sign a contract and NO you can't get out of it. I became disabled and that was the only way out of it. I paid for months before the company released me. I can't comment on Hayes because I don't know him or his school. Myers is more interested in socializing and money.

I will say this about Eric, when my kids wanted to join but I couldn't afford it, he let them train for free for about 5 months until I got my money straight. I can't speak about Hayes, but I couldn't ask for a better person to teach my kids than Eric Myers.

Do any of them train in Akido, I done that several years ago while in college and I prefer it over other forms of martial arts. If they do, I might need to holler at them.

That's sad, I didn't know that was interested in attending there. Sad that family can't get along over money it's not worth that.I would rather not go to neither if they act that way & I hate that you have to sign a contract.

looking to get back into fighting condition, any pros and cons on the two places??
Only thing you are going to get from topix is drama and trash talking. If you want to know about the schools, go watch classes, and see what you like best.

They are very different and the people that are at Myers, SHOULD be there. Same for Hayes, they are there because that's the best place for them.

I personally train at Hayes, but I'm not about talking some trash on here against somebody else. They do their thing, we do ours.

Hope you find what you are looking for.

Actually u are not required 2 sign a contract at Myers, u only agree 2 pay your bill every month & can do so online, electronically or by check it's up to you. U choose the length of your commitment & you can discontinue your agreement at any time w/given notice just as you would with any other professional run business. You will get ur uniforms in a timely manner (i.e. immediately), you won't have to wait for months on end & then be yelled at when u ask where they are (even though you paid for them upon registration). U will have belt testing on a regular basis (not only when there's extra money needed for a Hayes shopping spree). U will be treated w/respect & honor (not bullied into thinking its "their way" or the highway). U will not have to worry about getting a staph infection or finding broken glass in your leg, or a staple in your foot or stepping in urine in the bathroom (just to name a few).
& yes it is def sad that there cannot be peace between the 2 considering they are distant cousins. 1 has tried for many years & given up, it's pointless when all the other wants to do is talk trash continually to everyone. Hayes knows what he knows & Myers knows what he knows, they are both good at what they do. However, when u go 2 class ur supposed 2b going 2 train/learn, not 2 hear crap about the other school & how awful they are. That is 1 HUGE difference between the 2 schools. YOU WILL NOT HEAR ERIC SAY ANYTHING BAD ABOUT TROY!! Been there for years & have never heard anything negative out of his mouth about Hayes or his school. However, u will hear Troy talk smack about Eric & his school almost EVERY CLASS! I guess the bottom line is 1 was great back in the day & never went anywhere or made anything more out of themselves & is evidently jealous of the other who was great back in the day & continues to better themselves daily! 1 lives for the future, the other lives in the past. So you decide where you'd rather spend your money. The old saying 'you get what you pay for' definitely works here.

I find it funny that nobody with anything bad to say can use their real name... Come on down to Hayes MMA and I will let my 11 yr old show you what she has learned!!! Her room is full of trophies/medals she has won from tournaments (against boys & girls). All of them 1st place! Didn't see anyone at them from Myers..BUT would LOVE to see them there! She trains hard at Hayes and I have received several compliments from other coaches about her while at those tournaments. I also watched Troy fight while he was growing up.. He was a tough competitor and win or lose he competed with grace and dignity..So bring it on down to Hayes if ya got something to say (or need to be taught)!! And Lisa I am betting you are behind the bad mouthing!! GET OVER IT ALREADY!!!

I think they are both good people and have had dealt with both. It all depends on what you want out of training. If you are training for Martial Arts or self defense or if you are training to be a fighter. Each school has a different way of training. If you want to see which one is the one for you I feel either of them will let you observe some classes to see where you fit. I think they are both awesome at what they do.

All I know is that when Eric trained under Troy as a youth, Eric had additude problems that keep him from earning a black belt so he left. Last time I talked to him his head was even bigger.

I don't know hayes but I used to train with Eric when he was a blue belt. I went there before and after he started contracts. He's a complete d bag!!! He almost stuck it to me when I tried to get out of it too. I hope he still doesn't talk about getting into fighting shape and is still fat. You need to look at what you're wanting to sign up for. If you want exercise and to learn a few things, pick the cheapest. If you are serious about fighting, don't go to myers. He doesn't know anything about stand up!!! I'm sure he has students that are better than he is. Myers should give a big thanks to Darren for making his business what it is. Either school should be good, but Eric is fake. It just depends on what you're looking for.

Your funny is'nt that what you do on the side! Hayes is a great man thats done lots for this community and kept alot of kids out of trouble. Myers took lessons from hayes for years and quit once or twice cause Troy wouldnt give him a black belt as i remember myers had a poor attitude. Im sure he's grown alot since those days and has great skills. If you want to have a great time and learn new things then Myers is the one. If you want discipline, knowledge and some one to push you to be the best then Hayes is your guy! Bottom line their both great and have lots to offer...
