Lesson learned
United States
|
My kids were in the baby and toddler pageant, and I don't believe it's rigged, but I will say(only as my opinion, and not to bash) that I really didn't enjoy it this year. No I don't agree at all with the 12-24 month decision, but all the kids were cute. I feel guilty for putting my kids in it, and feel like I sold them short by keeping them "Sunday best and natural" we were told to do that. I feel if a judge finds it necissary to wear a full blown crown to judge a simple "natural" baby pageant... Then why would she pay any attention to my plain Jane Sunday best, and when we went on stage for the line up... They never looked at her... I can honestly say that they didn't see a thing she did. I didn't train her to wave, blow kisses, or do any kind of trick cause I thought it was supposed to be fun, and they were supposed to be themselves. I don't put hairspray, curls, and tutu dressed on my daughter to go to church. Last year may have been completely chaotic, but the judges at least looked like someone's mother, aunt, or friend... Not miss America. I didn't realize that the baby pageant was working to become what it was this time, or I would not have put my small children it it. It felt degrading and it wasn't fun! We will not participate in it again. And with all that being said... All the kids that won were beautiful... We were just not looking to win or be part of an up and coming "toddlers and tiarras" esk pageant! Thank you to the ladies at the messenger for trying to give the younger kids a pageant! Just not our cup of tea :)

I must first say that Tina is not a deceitful liar. You have no way of knowing that someone looks at the names of who is registered in advance and decides who wins, so you should really quit making accusations that aren't true. We were handed score sheets moments before the girls went on stage last year, and there were NO additional markings such as pick this one, director's cousin, this kid's parents have money or anything of the sort. Not every judge likes the same child, so they have to come to an agreement on who places based on the scores. As for last year, I liked more of the fun, tutu type outfits with big bows even on the little babies, but my mother who judged as well liked more of the simple, Sunday best type outfits. The one thing I know for a fact though, is that the directors had nothing to do with who wins, and that Tina or her co-director would NEVER rig a pageant. Tina has a daughter in pageants, and has friends who are in pageants, and she knows how much it hurts when you actually do see that a pageant was rigged. I can tell you that this one was not.

Obviously since you know how to spell MAKYNLEE you know her mother. Thats not a name that you hear and know how to spell correctly on the first try. Also, you singled her out but claimed you watched several pageants. If you were not biased in any way Im sure you would have found several girls or boys undeserving because beauty is often in the eye of the beholder. Meaning you would have your favorites, other people would have theirs. However you cant claim that Makynlee won because of how much money her parents have. Her dad has nothing to do with her, and her mother and stepdad live in a trailer. So get over it, and better luck next year.

I am so disappointed with how this pageant was ran and judged. IT WAS RIGGED!!!! Everybody knew it. I didn't have any children or family in it, but went with my friend. Their were so beautiful kids who completely were overlooked and did a million times better than 99% of the kids who made top 10. I don't remember all the numbers but can remember their looks and some names.#1 Emma something who I believe went with her brother. They were gorgeous children and had the best looks. How cute was that leopard?#2 their was a mixed little girl who was adorable.#3 Carly something and her partner. They had the cutest bathing suits. The african american children were very good as well. I could go on and on. I mean the parents hugging the judges?! Come on....the loved rubbing it in everyone's face and they are BFF with the director. Can we say RIGGED!!!! Mommy and Daddy better enjoy it now because if she grows up to look and act like her parents then it's a definite lose! If you have to hire a coach just to win then you lose in my book. No other parents made up routines. They were told to walk and count to 4 and repeat. Yet it was okay for them to do something completely different. And they most certainly knew better than to count to 4, because that's what screwed that 1 little boy, he actually listened to the rules. Rules only applied to certain ones. Kelly should feel ashamed and the parents These are children...small children at that. It disgusted me how evident it was that this was an unfair pageant. I feel for the parents who paid all that money and put in all that time for a rigged pageant. If I were them I would demand a redo.

You got it 100% correct. I was also back stage and some of the numbers were 12, 18, 2, and I forgot some of the others. The children that had the matching leopard dress and he had the hankie in his pocket were so well behaved and naturally beautiful. They were twins i believe. they congratulated everyone and definitely should have made it on stage, same with the only all black couple. He was working it on stage and she was very beautiful. I saw a bunch of the kids at the fair and in person the ones listed above were flat out more deservingtrojan others. They way the parents of the winners didn't cheer for some children was sickening. Then to high five when kids mess up, disgusting. They are kids people. All were cute in different ways. I doubt the parents of the winners want everyone to know about their "issues"Just saying...it's Madisonville and people know everything about everyone. When my daughter wins, or sometimes even just places, I go and hug the judges (occasionally) or at least thank them. It may seem to outsiders like I know them because I am friendly, but I really don't. That doesn't mean the pageant is rigged. And just because the kids are maybe given instructions on what they should/can do, that doesn't mean they have to. If a director tells my child what to do on stage, I would say no way, you do what we have practiced.

I don't see how not clapping for others has anything to do with it being rigged. When my children play baseball I don't cheer or clap when the other team goes on the field, but I may if they strike out! It's called a competition for a reason.

I have every paper and you are welcome to come and see them! I have nothing to hide! And they are NOT copies. They are the original papers that the parents filled out. So if you want my address please let me know and I will show you. This pageant is not rigged. We give score cards to the judges and they do their own scoring. Then it is handed to the person who adds them up an then handed to MC. I didn't even know who won till the names were called. I have NO family in the pageant, nor would I allow any of my family in the pageant. I am not a liar or a cheat. If it was not for me or the co-director this pageant would not happen. I am sorry if your child did not win, there were 80+ children that did not win. That does not mean the other children were not beautiful! This is suppose to be fun for your children. Please, if you need to talk to me about the pageant, everyone of you have my number. Thank you.

You women are complete and utter IDIOTS! You believe your children are ENTITLED to success, for no reason! What will happen when they fall down? Will you curse God and gravity? What if they dont make the baseball team? Arent chosen for cheerleader? What if the most popular boy just doesnt want them? I cant imagine you would be the kind of mothers that even CARE about where their grade standings are, because you must live vicarioulsy through your child. Looks are all important to you because you lack self esteem of your own appearance. Please tho, teach your female offspring a lesson that you obviously didnt learn from your own mothers: Keep your legs together until you are MATURE enough to reproduce! Good day "ladies"

I agree with most of what you said and my children weren't even in it and we were there simply to support a friend's child, who didn't win and hasn't been mentioned, but did well. I agree that the couple in leopard were by far the most naturally beautiful children there, but I believe that was also the same couple were the boy dragged her a bit and left early. Nerves I am sure, and nobody please take offense all the children were beautiful in their own way and I am not picking on any of them. Just my opinion and what I saw. The couple who wore the hot pink 2 piece and neon trunks was also a very cute couple, and had the cutest swimsuits, but seemed nervous. Those were my 2 favorites and they didn't make top 10. I was shocked. It seemed like none of the older ones made it and I really thought those 2 should've. The children who won were cute. I didn't think her mother behaved appropriately. People keep saying racism. There was only 1 black couple, and they were stylish and I think he waved, but didn't place. But that was only 2 kids. The baby toddler pageant had all black winners I believe. I didn't watch it. As far as bashing anyone involved I won't. I will say IF you did do those things then shame on you. IF you didn't then great! Disappointed Viewer wrote: I am so disappointed with how this pageant was ran and judged. IT WAS RIGGED!!!! Everybody knew it. I sat with a friend and was close enough to see the judges. When all the contestants were called on stage for line up with their parents the judges were already writing down things and covering it with their hands. I personally think they should have waited to call all the contestants up at once after each child had went individually, to help make their decision. Also, I did not even have time to go get something from the concession stand when the woman was supposed to be "tallying" up the scores from 20+ contestants to see who won. They were already announcing who won within 5 minutes. Im sorry, but that is not enough time to add up each girls score(from 3 different judges) with that many contestants. I think next year they need to take their time and the judges should def. pay more attention!
