Gates decries distribution of dying Marine's photograph

Defense Secretary Robert Gates criticized the Associated Press on Friday for what he called an "appalling" lack of compassion for deciding to distribute a photograph of a mortally wounded Marine in Afghanistan over the objections of the Marine's father.

SHAME
I am "very" shamed of the associated press, that they would go ahead and release a photo of a mortally wounded marine, over the objections of the marines father! The Secretary of Defense was correct in citing the action of the Associated Press as "appalling."

We know that war is "Hell" however,(seemingly) the press lacks compassion and respect for families of the fallen...

Bottom line, the last thing this country can do is respect and enforce those wishes of the family!
