I would like to know more about the history of Macks Creek, who founded it, in what year, and how that came about. I am a rather new rural resident of Macks Creek and have found the little village and townspeople to be fascinating, interesting, determined, and resourceful. I'd like to see Macks Creek maintain its independence and automomy, and remain what is a precious commodity in America--a progressive small hometown.

Mack's Creek

This village is located on the Southwest quarter of the Northeast quarter of Section 12, Township 37 N, Range 19 W. It was entered by Charles Westcott, and was named for the stream on which it was located. Hugh Ellison, who settled about the year 1840, was the first settler in the vicinity. The post-office was established in 1869. Other business houses included: a drug store, blacksmith shop, general merchandise, dry goods and drugs; and a doctor.(--State of Missouri, History of Camden County, p. 339.)

Mack's Creek is a post-office, nineteen miles southwest of Linn Creek. Gazetteer of Missouri, pp. 100-101.

It is seven miles west of Roach. The State of Missouri, in 1904, p. 345.

It is located at Section 12, Township 37 N, Range 19 W, at the junction of Highways N, O & 54.

There is a Camden County history book that was printed back in the 1980s. There should be a copy in the Library. It has the complete history of Macks Creek and it's residents.

Daily Horoscope for November 29

Cancer

If you've been troubled lately, now's the time to seek a friend's counsel. Even just a little tea and sympathy will be nice, so plan to have lunch with someone simpatico. Everyone needs to spend a little time with someone who won't judge them; Cancer is often wonderful at giving this sort of unconditional affection but often has a harder time seeking it out. Accept a little TLC... you need it now.
