Ok so finally another company with financial backing and playing the stock market is getting in on the energy act for sure.. But who is getting all that power surely not the north country? We all know that energy those turbines will make will feed NYC instead of where it is needed the most right at home where they are being built. They said this: The three wind parks, which use GE's 1.5 MW wind turbines, will generate enough electricity to power more than 110,000 New York homes, the GE unit said. Now tell me is 100,00 upstate franklin, clinton, essex county homes going to get any of that power, i highly doubt it. it will all be allocated to the Bigger cities.

Federal law dictates that all power be fed into the grid PERIOD.
The north country is never shorted of power, the fact that more power goes to the cities is simply because more people live there.
There is no more chance of changing that law than there is of hell freezing over.

Besides, we have to get energy from somewhere. I've seen the towers in Clinton County, and, personally, I think they're beautiful. I for one, am fine with wind power.

I'm with you Soleil. As a matter of fact if I could afford it, I'd invest in Noble and wind power myself.

I agree, the towers are beautiful and the fuel for them (wind) is cheap, abundant and non-polluting.

local born i have seen them all over Germany and France aqnd they are a sight to see i think they are pretty cool myself and you are right it's free and cheapo unharnessed energy we so sorely need with oil prices out of control thanks to speculators jacking us off in the stock markets so they can make there billions when they know there is enough oil to go around for hundreds of years still. to much has been left untapped and now look at where it's gotten the world

I too saw them in Europe and found them interesting to look at and not eyesores at all. Even back then during the Cold War they looked like the future to my teenage eyes. There are no good arguments against pursuing alternative energy sources.

I don't mind them either - but there certainly are good arguments against wind towers. I think it's safe to say that's been laid out over the past two years. I don't mind them where they are but I'm happy Malone said "no thanks"

So then you're okay paying $1,000 every winter for fuel oil and almost $5 a gallon for gasoline? Oh, and let's not forget, lower property taxes from PILOT and Host Community Agreements. And I love dirty polluted air, just like I guess you do. Yeah, those turbines really are a bum deal.

If i could i would put one in my back yard for sure. Not only that i'm looking to get solar power in the future to boot that way i could get off the power company grid and let natures power work for me. then get paid by the power company for my extra power i am creating.

my neighbor went and got photocells installed on his roof for like 22000 bucks and he loves not paying the power company anymore yes he's paying for the financing for the solar power right now but in 3 to 4 more years it will have paid for itself he already gets 140 bucks a month back form the power company each month and uses that money plus 200 more to pay for the solar and the federal incentive for going solar so it's a win win for him and thats what my thinking is

I'd let them put a tower in my backyard, too. I'm all for any step toward reduced dependence on the Middle East and oil. I think those wind towers, though large, are better looking than some of the industrial power lines.

Please explain what wind towers do to reduce dependence on oil? I thought they made electricity and didn't fill our cars or oil tanks....hmm.

This letter to the NYT may give you a better idea how the two are tied together. Five or 10 minutes of Googling will tell you much more.

No I am not OK with paying the fuel price. Yes it will lower your school tax but your property value decreases. Your comment concerns fuel not wind mills.
