Would like to know the Native American tribe that lived in the area of Winston and Walker County.
My family is from this area and all I knew was that we were Black Dutch. In the last few years I found out that Black Dutch was what the Indians called theirself to hide who they were. I remember that my grandmother told me that we had Indian in our family, but we kept it a secret. My mothers people came to Winston County in the 1820s from S.C. |

The Creek and Cheerokee indians used walker county as a hunting ground. But there where alot of Families that had Indians and blacks in the family that moved to the moulton and lauderdale county areas of Alabama because there where alot of them and they were less ridiculed by the white people of that time.
