Okay... This sounds REALLY WEIRD but, it IS REALLY WEIRD and I need some help!! A week ago during the night I opened my door to go outside on our front porch and there was a toad right by the door.(I'm sure it's a toad not a frog because it's fairly big) So, of course I freaked out and yelled at my husband to come and get rid of it. He knocked it off of the porch and that was the end of that... we thought! It was either the one or two nights later and I was going back out and... there it was in the same place back AGAIN beside my front door!!(there are 3 brick steps it must jump to get up on the porch) This time my husband got it and threw it pretty far out into the yard and I figured it would go away or he may have injured it. The very next night we were outside and I swear that SAME TOAD was back again but this time it was trying to jump up the steps to get back on the porch!!!(It jumped 1 step while we were watching) We were so amazed by the persistence of the toad we just looked at it and each other for a second. Once again my husband handled the situation and he said he "kicked" it on to the far end of the yard towards the woods!! I KNEW he probably killed it this time, so no worries when I wanted to go out on the porch! This past Thursday (which was about two days after the last occurrence) my husband was mowing the grass and I was pulling up dead flowers and weeds in front of the house. All of a sudden I realized my hand was getting ready to TOUCH THE SAME TOAD!! I thought to myself something is not right here and I am going to take care of this situation MYSELF!! I went and got a plastic bag, scooped the toad into the bag, walked the bag over to the woods, dumped the toad out and then got a stick and pushed it into the woods as far as I could without going into the woods myself!! GUESS WHAT?????? I just now opened the door to go outside and that TOAD WAS BACK AGAIN!!! I pushed it off of the porch, walked my dog and when I got back on the porch I shined a light to see where it was and that stupid (should say REALLY SMART)toad was already turned and moving back toward my steps again!!!! WHAT IS GOING ON??? WHAT DOES THIS MEAN??? WHAT DOES IT WANT??? WHAT AM I TO DO??? Could someone please tell me if you actually know anything or if you find any information on this subject please let me know!! I have googled it and I am not finding the meaning of this!! THANKS

It's okay that you ask about bugs! Actually, NO we do not have any bugs like that flying or lying around. We moved into this house 1-month ago and this has been happening in the past week. My house doesn't smell like anything other than good smelling candles or food being cooked in the evenings. My husband says that maybe he is going for the snails that come onto the porch but I don't think that is it. He goes to the same location which it beside the door on the corner of the porch.

My mother in law has had a large toad that stays outside her front porch for along time.Right now with fall approaching, gnats and other insects are gathering and that is a great feast for the frogs, you don't have to have bugs to attract frogs though. If you have a water feature, such as a pond, those will attract frogs too. But frogs are not bad omens or anything. They actually are good to have around. Some people find the noise of bull frogs comforting. I wouldn't be too worried about it though unless you wake up one morning and its in your house or something. But as far as I have ever heard, frogs are not omens. I have heard of if a bird flies into your house and circles over your head then flies back out that means a death in your family but I've never heard anything on frogs of any kind.

I don't have a water feature on our property anywhere.
The toad came back AGAIN last night and this time it was on the opposite side of the porch.
Also, my porch light is one of those decor lights so that it's not too bright and it does not attract bugs... so it's not coming for the bugs!
I can't help to think it means something but everyone else says it's just a toad that is coming up on my porch. The thing that gets me is all we have done to it, it keeps coming back AND it has to hop up 3 steps to get to the tiny porch as well!
ToadLady... still stumped!!

Put the toad in a bag or something and drive about 5 or 6 miles up or down the road and let it out or take it to Pineville. It is best to let it out in the woods a few miles from your home.

I came across this post b/c I wrote a poem about a momma who was screamin that a toad got into the house and was wondering myself what it might mean... it seems clear now: something has been left unsaid, and you need to say it.

Maybe you have a light on your porch and it atracts bugs..then the toad is looking for a meal at night. Just leave him alone and think about every bug he gets, thats one less that would've gotten in to your house

Hi, I found this thread while trying to find an explanation for some strange, repetitious toad behavior around our place and figured I might as well throw in my 2 cents. We have 2 or maybe 3 toads in our small suburban backyard. We take it as a kind of compliment because it's a good ecological sign. Most of the time they make themselves scarce and we hardly know they're there. The odd thing is, first, one of them kept trying to get into our family room through the french doors, and finally even did, my husband heard him making shuffling noises while he was watching TV and "helped" him back outdoors, if you know what I mean. He's been able to distinguish them by their size, color and markings, this guy has a telltale reddish mark under one side of his chin. Then there's this odd thing that keeps happening out front. Dotty and another guy, a bigger, darker one, keep showing up in the garage. We have an attached double garage with a big swinging door onto the driveway out front, just the regular arrangement. Hubby has put a pool table in the garage and his brother often comes over and they play pool in there with the garage door open. Practically every time they do this, one or another of the toads is either already lurking in the garage when they open the door, or shows up while they're playing pool. There's nothing in there that ought to attract them at all, it's just a bare, dry concrete floor. Today they were at it again and hubby put down a flowerpot and a piece of wood to make a little "toad house" for the guy, whichever one it was, and he didn't go in, but climbed right up there and sat on the "roof". I go in and out of there all the time but never see them. Maybe they're gay toads?

yep I have the same open my front door this big fat toad jumped in so Id brushed him out ...not believing to kiss it turn into a Prince or visa versa lol ...
but saying that toad or frog is a good omen bring good luck as even the chinese honour the 3 legged for properity so look forward to wealth with an persistant bugger like it in feng shui you buy one with an coin in his mouth and place it by the front door at night take the coin out of his mouth as the toad /frog suppose to bring in monies ...not saying feed that thing with an coin as it is real just leave it be in the garden soon or later it will go elsewhere

Your husband is a coward. Leave the toad alone, you sick, pathetic yuppies. Kicking a toad? Christ. Forget what the toad means. What does it mean when you torture an animal that is intelligent enough to climb steps and orient via the stars and magnetic lines? You're a dummy. If people like you come on my land, you're headed for the wood chipper. You're soulless anyway. You need to be removed from this incarnation. Does your husband kick you or the kids when he's had a little too much? Is he a bully? A Cop? OMG, he's a cop. A toad kicking cop. GROW UP. Thank GOD CERN created the internet for excrement like yourself to ask such asinine questions, huh?
