As when any story begins when you open the cover, one winter day in 1988 i walked into slipped disc with my freind steve and found the most amazing music store in the universe. As i waited in line to pay for my cure and smith's albums i watched as kiss, iron maiden, poison fans shopped with joy division, depeche mode, ramones fans held shirts, buttons, and mags of the day like melody maker and NME.As i watched in pure bliss little did i know it would soon come to end, as i approched the front counter i put my records down and asked the man behind the counter if he had the stray cats album, with joyful and evil laughter yelled why would you want that. To say i turned blood red in my face would be an understatment. As it turned out that man behind the counter was phil and he became a good friend just like debbie, paul, jerry, randy, pete,r ob,and even russ, that was the weird guy eating the cupcakes in the back of the store. They all worked there at one time and some still do along with me.As for mike the owner of slipped disc he also became a good friend to me. Simply a good honest man who made working there a great experince for me.and i will never forget my time there. So i say goodbye to customers like Satan,Fish Artie,Saul, Stan the man, skinny glamman and the thousand others who have passed on through the store. I will never forget. Tony slipped disc employee and music fan.

Man I've been going to that store for years! I discovered it when my dad dragged me out to valley stream to do some bs business and I had a chance to wander around. Needless to say this was long before I had my own drivers license, so I would bug a friend with a car till they relented then we'd all go out there and shop. Fantastic selection and always something new. Not just whatever was the popular bull at the time. Slipped disc was the last of it's kind, the vanishing breed of the local indie record store. Hopefully they'll find a place to reopen soon.
R.I.P. Twisted Disque, Hopefully NOT Slipped Disc!!!!!!!!!!

WITH THE CLOSING OF SDR THAT HAS BEEN A PART OF MY LIFE SINCE MIKE OPENED THE STORE IN 1982? WHAT I ENJOYED WAS THE FRIENDSHIP THAT I HAD WITH MIKE AND RANDY AND PETE AND TONY AND ALL THE FRIENDS I MADE BECAUSE OF THE RECORDS STORE BEING THERE FOR ALL THESE YEARS. THE JOKE WAS THERE WHERE TWO PLACES TO REACH ME IT WAS AT WORK OR SLIPPED DISC RECORDS.KNOW WITH SDR RECORDS CLOSED ITS WEIRD GOING RIGHT HOME FROM WORK.
THE FIRST ALBUM I BROUGHT BY SDR WAS HEAVY METAL MANIACS BY "EXCITER"
SDR WILL ALWAYS BE NUMBER ONE!!!!!!

SDR was the best place ever. The staff were always cool, knowledgable, and helpful. The selection was un beatable and the place was honeslty the best store I was ever in. We went at least once a week. My 3 favorite types of music are hardcore, punk, and metal. This store satisfied my sweet tooth for everything. Used discs, every cd ever, rarities, imports, tshirts, stickers, books, movies, if they ever re open I'm there day one. Hands down the best shop ever on LI.
