Instead of punishing them, you should want to encourage them. I would think you would want to say to the oil companies,“What obstacles are there to you making more money?” And hiring more people. Instead they say,“No, we must punish them. We must tax them more to make things fair.” This whole thing about fairness is so misguided and gotten out of hand.

In his floor speech, Kyl claimed that ending the tax breaks would be “discriminatory.”
The five major oil companies are some of the largest and most profitable corporations in the world, increasingly at the expense of the rest of humanity. The big five companies enjoyed record levels of $137 billion profits last year, while paying absurdly low tax rates. Exxon is the most profitable, making $1300 per second in 2011, but it only paid a 13 percent tax rate, according to a Reuters analysis. The oil industry claims it pays a higher tax rate — but it counts foreign taxes and deferred taxes.
The industry is set to make even higher profits from record gas prices. A Center for American Progress analysis shows that for every penny rise in gas, the big five companies gain $200 million more in profit. Republican senators are asking to boost Big Oil’s profits at the expense of the 99 percent.
Meanwhile, the oil industry is not using its profits to hire more people. Paul falsely claimed the oil companies employ 9.2 million people — in fact, there are only 2.2 million jobs in the entire oil industry, and 40 percent of those jobs are minimum-wage work at gas stations. Things that bug me about Republicans

The Republicans are against abortion because they say they care preserving human life, but we all know that the reality is that they only care about a baby until it's born. Then, they could care less. I say that because they cut funding federal funding to state medicaid programs to finance health care for those children born to underpriveleged families. They cut funding to WIC to provide food for underprivileged women and children, and for what? To finance tax cuts for the rich.

The Republicans say we have to take care of our seniors, but then they cut funding to senior food programs, legislate the raise the retirement age, not pass the cost of living increase on seniors Social Security, alter Medicare laws to create a dougnut hole so seniors have to pay for their own medication out of their pockets or do without because they can't afford it. For what? So that the rich can get their tax cuts.

The Republicans are the most scared group of people I've ever seen. They're afraid of those illegal mexicans taking their jobs, robbing, and raping people, and selling drugs. They forget that most illegal immigrants from Mexico are simply here fleeing massive poverty and monopolization in their own country to do what many Americans, themselves, are trying to do--build a better life for themselves and their families. They're afraid of muslims because they're all terrorists and out to get us. The reality is most muslims aren't terrorists, and the only reason that those that are terrorists want to harm us is not because of our freedom, but because the government has been involved in secret, dirty wars in their countries to subjugate the population of those nations under repressive regimes so that American corporations can go their way unmolested.

Republican's say that the reason we should cut taxes on the rich is because they're the 'job creators.' The truth of the matter is that 70% of the businesses in the United States are small businesses that employ less than 9 people. Of that 70%, 60 something percent are businesses with 3 or fewer employees. The REAL job creator's in this country is small businesses. It's unlikely that the owners of most of these small businesses are making more than $1 million/year in personal incomes to be affected by any of the proposed tax increases on the rich. Likewise, the majority of these small businesses aren't listed on the stock exchange, so the Republican idea that cutting capital gains taxes will create jobs is nonsense. The businesses that employ the majority of the population won't see any capital from investment into their companies because they're small businesses and not listed on the stock exchange. Small business is the real job creators. The real job creators are p
eople like you and I. The middle class. Don't be fooled into thinking cutting taxes for the rich creates jobs. It just makes the rich more rich while reducing the benefits you'd receive if you found yourself having to use government assistance programs.

The Republicans are obviously against education because they want to cut funding to the Department of Education which funds pell grants to pay for tax cuts for the rich.

The list is endless. All I can say is, I loathe Republicans.
