Just what we need - instead of pristine desert views of the hills near Lucerne, now we get to look at thousands of mirrors, and a stripped Earth. You can't remake the desert once you ruin it. I guess NIMBY, not in my backyard, really does apply to Corporate America. This power will go to LA, and we have to live with this trash forever.

I'm all for the solar plant, but not for Chevron owning and running it. The last thing Chevron deserves is government funding from the stimulus package. They should be giving back to the people, not getting more of our money.

genius. so, we will now use an additional 3.5 acres of land FOR EACH HOME so that Chevron can monopolize the power sold from our sunshine to us? What??? Each of those 150 homes could easily power itself with a 3.5 kW solar system, at a cost of about $30/month and NO dead wilderness and NO increased power bills for any of us and NO wasted water and NO more Chevron domination of our energy landscape. it is seriously INSANE to put these super-expensive wilderness-killing power plants out in our deserts when we can produce solar power cheaper, faster and cleaner within our neighborhoods and WE could get paid for it instead of Chevron. What is wrong with you people just letting this roll on through? Stand up and FIGHT! Energy independence crosses all political lines - we ALL need to stop Chevron and BP and Goldman Sachs from killing our deserts using OUR tax money and OUR ratepayer money, while we are not even allowed loans or payments for producing clean power ourselves. This is un-American in the extreme.

California keeps passing these "green laws". THis one is a direct result of the requirement that LA get 20% of it's energy needs from "green" sources. At what cost to the environment? These solar projects cost far more to produce than they ever make in profit, so who do you think foots the bill for them?
My guess: We do!

It's supposed to create more jobs?I suppose every workman has to do the work of 4 people just like the cashiers at chevrons gas stations. They had to cut back on hours to line their pockets more.Maybe it's to fund this project?

This is so insane. If those 150 homes were each loaned $10,000 for rooftop solar systems, they could all have ZERO electric bills for the next 30 years. They could pay the loan back over 20 years at $45/month instead of paying a power bill, and have no bill at all for the last 10 years of system life. FREE POWER. Instead, they are gonna get JACKED by CHEVRON! Of all the outrageous land and money redistribution schemes, this one really takes the cake. WE could own this renewable revolution ourselves and cut our costs while doing it. Why hand our energy future over to Chevron AGAIN? They are the EXACT creeps we are trying to get out from under. Geez! It is especially revolting that Sierra Club and NRDC are mooning over what a great project it is. THIS IS CHEVRON, for Chrissakes. Do you really think they are going to stop killing our planet and ripping us off? That is what they do - the ONLY thing they do. Stop preening and feeling all included. You are being USED and you are either too dumb or too greedy to admit it. It's a slippery slope, people. If you want energy independence, you need to STOP Big Solar and get Local Solar moving. It's our only hope.
