Why are the teachers not vigilant and watchful of young children at elementary schools? I have watched the children play next to the fence by the road where predators could suddenly grab them or offer them drugged candy. Yet the lazy adults are in the shade over a hundred feet away by the school. Check it out yourself. Do the schools not know there are dangerous people around? Who would be liable if a kid does get grabbed or poisoned?

So what are we to do about it? Could take discreet photos and show them to city counsel and demand they do something. Or take it up with the school board. Check the mississippi sex offenders site to prove they are around. Watch Nancy Grace. Put a letter of concern in the paper. Get the teachers between the roadside fence and the children.

The sad thing is that it is not just this school. My child goes to Central, and where he plays there is no fence.The play area meets a tree line, and this is where most of the children play during recess. The teachers all sit at one table and talk, so there's nobody watching these kids.

If you as a parent are concerned about your childs safety at school, you need to address this with the George County School Board. This "Rumor Machine" called the internet is not the proper forum for these concerns.

Every School in George County is vulnerable.

Are you willing to pay the extra taxes it will take to pay for: fencing (totally enclose the school like a correctional facility), more police officers (one for every school), video surveilance systems (for trial, after the fact)...??????

You know what you seem to think we shouldnt be concerned about our kids and i think it would be worth it to pay a little extra

When it comes to a childs safety, whats money ? That shouldn't even be an issue. What is a teachers salary for? Rumor, no sweetheart, thats a fact. Drive by if you have doubts, or do you sit at the table.
