I just recently went to moe down and i have to agree with all of you that there are a lot of drugs at these things. But there is also the part that you are all missing, the families that go every year. moe is all about making this a family music event they have a kids tent and everything. They even had kids on stage and sang one of their songs. As for the person who died, i agree with the anonymousone, no compassion.. i read online that he was a very good person and loved his family. Just because you go to these does not mean you do drugs. i personally went because moe if very talented and i enjoy their music, not to do drugs. Once again i am not saying that certain people only go to do drugs, but even more people go to enjoy the outdoors, meeting people and enjoying music. As for the people who live near snow ridge, them seem to benefit from it, i personally bought food from them and they told me they look forward to the festival every year.. the other neighbor had people camping on their lawn and they were playing games all weekend. The people who are just making judgments and have never been there shame on you, and stop being so ignorant.

People of the forum...I went to Moe down 2008. Yes, there were drugs; and yes, one unfortunate went too far and DIED. I also found two friends I won't ever lose. I found AMAZING music! Music that at every turn and twist I found another emotion. Do you know what its like to dance to your favorite (or purhaps a new one) with a total stranger...thus, knowing that they are feeling the exact same pure happiness that YOU are?? ...You know, I saw a sign yesterday on a walk that said, "No Standing at any time." Our society and therefore pressured and nervous politicians make these silly laws to protect...whom? The people?? Each of us are in charge of ourselves when it comes down to real life. Silly "no standing" signs and trying to ban festivals is where heaving, rebellious, and ultimitaly dangerous youth with their raw growth find their core. It's like stopping evolution. I had an amazing time at this festival! It was the best yet--Everytime I find a new one, it always is. I go for the music, the culture and the friendship. Do not let the tragic death of one careless person and a lot of nervous small-towners stop the beauty of people getting together and finding freedom. I know where you're coming from...let us find our way too. Please don't be so narrowminded...and let me continue my responsible and lively FUN.

Suggest YOU do a spelling and grammar check!!! Or are your errors typos? Where exactly is a "now where town"? "Your welcome"? This post is ages old, what do you hope to gain by bringing it up now? Get a (drug free) life.

You were on the shakedown side, thats where all the stupid people camp and do stupid things. The other side is where the reasonable people go who are there to enjoy the music. Hopefully you try it again and camp by the RV's instead, you will enjoy yourself a lot more. If it's even still in Turin this year. By the way, it's not a freakin' drug festival, there's just a lot of people there who do drugs. It's about music and love, for 4 days every stranger you see is a friend. People share openly with each other, it may be food, it may be beer, it may be some weed (is it really that bad?). The music is great and I have a blast every year I go.

Scott, keep your bible quotes to yourself. Many who attended this music festival will end up on the otherside farther than you.

Wisdom says, "Hear instruction, and be wise and refuse it not" (Prov. 8: 33). "Blessed is the man that heareth me," God's word continues, "watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors" (vs. 34). God also said, "Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof is brutish (Prov. 12: 1).
God Bless you for reading my sculptures quotes. I am so pleased. I understand your thought about the Bible. Your outlook will change toward Jesus and you will be saved. I am so pleased you're reading my sculptures quotesand forgive you for your response.

Just want to say that most of the posters on here don't know jack shit. I'm a resident of upstate NY - all there are up there are drunks, bigots, and bad weed. The worst part is you all think you are so pure and good. You are not from the midwest. There are people in the world that will make bad decisions. All you want to do is have it "out of sight, out of mind". "Oh, let's not have this festival back here ever again" You think they won't just find a new venue? You think if you ban something from one area because of drug use that people will stop using drugs? Wake up! I know plenty of drug users that are smarter, nicer, and more open minded than you rednecks. This is a new millennia. This is a time of having true freedom, not just government sanctioned freedoms. Which means that some people in the world are going to use drugs, and you will just have to get over it.

Granny wrote: So, according to The Moose, moe.down has claimed its first victim of this year's drug fest. I'm not one to jump to conclusions, but it's probably a fairly safe bet to assert that illegal drugs were involved. When will the powers that be in local government stop sanctioning this crap? What is Mountain View Prevention's position or influence on this? The silence of all speaks volumes. Where is the benfit to anyone else in the county besides Mr. Harris? Do the math, the WDT under "weekend's best bets" (really, best bet for whom?) publishes that tickets are $105. Let's see $105 X say even 5,000 attendees = 1/2 a million $$$. I believe Turin Ambulace Squad benefits financially, as they well should, but is it worth it? Have a mud bog or other fundraising activity Turin in place of the drug fest. The weekend is still young, the scanner is going nuts. The cost to the County/State law enforcement and surrounding counties and their law enforcement is tremendous, and continues through the year as arrestees are prosecuted. When is enough enough? Anyone care to join me in getting this ended? We are the laughingstock of the Northeast. Clean air, caring people, great place to raise kids. BULL. As long as this type of activity is allowed, it shows that we as a community are a complacent bunch that don't have the balls to stand up to and stop this. I welcome your thoughts and ideas. No more Moe, But stil got drugs in county. I cant beleave the stores ,motels ,gas stations ,b&b ,bars didnt profit also....

Let me just say, if its gone, I for one am glad! I used to live on West Rd. and every yr we dreaded the week when the moe.down went on. There were always people walking in the middle of the road, sometimes no where near snow ridge. Not to mention trying to turn onto west rd. to get your house, talk about a nightmare! There were always people blocking the whole road. One year we even saw someone in our backyard! I figure when you hear about lots of drugs and other stuff going on down the road from where you live, you have a right to be concerned!!

NOT ALL PEOPLE WHO ATTEND MUSIC FESTIVALS ARE IRRESPONSIBLE OR TRYING TO MAKE CASH OR PIECES OF CRAP OR ARE THERE FOR THE DRUGS- AT LEAST PEOPLE GET OUT AND ENJOY LIFE A BIT WITH EACH OTHER INSTEAD OF ROTTING THEIR BRAINS AND LOSING THEIR SOULS IN FRONT OF THE TV OR VIDEO GAMES ALL OF THE TIME....

the guy that died inhaled nitrous oxide directly from a large tank that had been running all night the compressed gas coming out of a tank that large has no time to warm up before being inhaled directly. He in turn suffocated attempting to inhale the cold gas.
