A Coach

Syracuse, NY

Our local little league used to be something to be proud of. Ed Murphy aNd Mr. Salmon have turned it into a joke. Ed is nothing more than a puppet ran by Mr. Salmon. This league is an unorganized mess. Ed, you should be asHamed of what you have done to this league. And it is a total showing of disrespect to not return someone's phonecall, and you have disrespected everyyone involved in this league. I thought I was the only coach that you continuesly REFUSE TO CALL BACK!!!!!! Only to find out that you never return anyone's phonecalls. Teams are showing up to games and no umpires have been assigned to the game. Teams are showing up to games only to find out that there is not a game. Schedules are already being changed, and it is only the 1st week. If you are not gonna put any effort into running this league Mr. Murphy, then get out and let someone who cares do the job!

I agree that Ed Murphy is doing a poor job, but this is not the place to do anything about it.

North Central L.L. is celebrating it's 50 year anniversary this year and 50 years is hardly an indication of poor leadership.Almost half of these years is due to the direct involvement/leadership of Dan Salmon your Little League District Administrator. Many others have "come and gone" but Dan has continually donated his time, energy, money to the successfull administration and leadership of this baseball program. His ties to the community and area have made tournaments, leagues, communicat ions to Little league almost effortless and one would not realize this until you have been a coach and had to work with this man.Our pres.Ed Murphy also has a great passion for the league and "new" ideas for the betterment of everyone involved. To criticize at this point is childish if you have not been involved for any length of time/years.North Central has agreed to alter the minor division this year to better develop specific position players and better quality ballplayers. We all agreed at a meeting early in the year to pursue this idea knowing that there would be "growing pains" and pains there have been partly due to poor judgement of some communities or individuals. No reason to blame hard working dedicated individuals volunteering their time.TIME TO GO TO PRACTICE.If anyone wishes to get a better explanation and updated on this matter feel free to stop our field in West Leyden and I would be glad to update you with all the info.I have but it is a shame someone hides behind their keyboard.P.S as a coach you can find me at the field any day almost anytime-a good coach is not afraid to work on his field after dark.

while i agree with most of this the working on the field should be done by the fire dept, its thier field, I also have a problem with those who sit home and criticize those who VOLUNTEER their time, Cmon out and help be a part of the solution instead of griping lazily about the problems, It is true there are issues that need ironing out but until minors realize that its about teaching the game not about winning it, will we gain ground! coach pitch is the worst thing this league has ever instituted, we might better have limited the youngest age back to 8 and played 4 inning games to shorten them, and started a t ball program for those 6-7yr olds, and by t ball i mean hitting off of a T, not the tshirt ball they play ay Beaver riverjust my .02

Ahh, Dan Cihocki, yet another one of Dan Salmon's puppets. And you have been kissing up to Dan for how many years now. At least you didn't only pat your buddies dan and Ed on the back. You gave yourself a plug too about how great a coach you are! "P.S as a coach you can find me at the field any day almost anytime-a good coach is not afraid to work on his field after dark." That is pretty pathetic to pat yourself on the back!

If you have to toot your own horn, you prolly are compensating for your own faults. And your backing of Dan and Ed should be taken with a grain of salt.

The biggest problem that all of you have is that Little League is suppose to be about the kids! And if the league is in it's 50th year, what makes you think that you should have the right to change things to the way you think they should be? Parents are against what you are doing, but all of you "volunteers" just do what you want. And if you are canceling and changing games without notice. And families are showing up for nothing, you are being extremely inconsiderate to everyone. And the "coach pitching" idea is a joke, created by coaches without the patience to give the kids all the time they need. OH WAIT, THAT'S RIGHT, YOU WOULD RATHER WORK ON THE FIELD TO ALL HOURS OF THE NIGHT, BUT CUT DOWN THE TIME THAT YOU HAVE FOR THE KIDS!!!!!!!!!!

Hey A. Coach. Sounds like you have a lot of time and know how on your hands. How about being proactive and making a change instead of spewing your gripes and venom on a forum that requires no accountability! Maybe you should move from coaching to administration. Be a man (I'm guessing) and make a difference for the good. Go for it!
