Former Fire chief Henry Butts

Looks like he's in big trouble. Police searched his office,car and home. Two asst chief are also under investigation. fire department is running 100 times better now that he is gone.

Why is there no morals clause for having porn on city computers

Henry Butts was a good fire chief. It is his high morals and ethics that got him in trouble.

Really.....'high morals and ethics'...do you have a clue as to what those words even mean? High morals does not include sleeping with multiple women in multiple states while your wife is at home with the kids, ethics is not inclusive of storing pornographic images on city computers and conducting questionable financial transactions with county funds and equipment. In the event that you think he is still so 'high morally and ethically' go to the local bookstore and pick up a dictionary and provide yourself with a little education and a little less moralistic ineptitude on your own behalf!! I have heard and met some clueless people in my lifetime, but buddy...you take the cake!

And the fact that it was done with the city of Watertown's equipment, i.e. computers, vehicles and phones does not bother the public? Are we now paying
people to work for the city to carry on illicit affairs in his office and Fire Vehicle? What world do you live in that is considered acceptable? Corrupt is corrupt no matter how you dress it up! When the truth comes out and the City of Watertown finds out just how much of his time he spent "playing" on city time

The "fact" that it happened and it can be substantiated. As soon as the Paper wins it's open records request ...then you and everyone else will see what kind of man he really is. The facade that he has maintained all these years will now be removed and the real Henry Butts will emerge. The sad part of it is...he will not go down alone.
One of the people that had personal knowledge has already killed himself rather than have his secrets come out....!

It is obvious to me you do not know the definition of the words you just used...let me educate you...

Slander is the oral communication of "FALSE" statements that are harmful to a person's reputation. If the statements are PROVEN to be true, it is a complete defense to a charge of slander. Oral opinions that don't contain statements of fact don't constitute slander.

So, as I stated before...when the Paper's request for records to be made public are granted......You sir, WILL know the difference!

Here's the kicker....there has to be an injury for there to be a lawsuit, and the only injuries here have been perpetrated, not by me, but by Chief Butts. Federally, the requirements are the same, and mere statement of the truth does not a lawsuit make. Vicissitudinary attitudes in today's courts, though attempting to use the internet as a platform, find that they are limited, as they should be, by freedom of information. In simpler terms for folks like you, it is called "Freedom of Speech". Come to think of it that is the same reason that the Paper will soon have all of the information that it needs to provide the public (that would be us...) with the complete and whole truth. Richard Gerhart you are either a fool or a friend of Mr Butts (which makes you a bigger fool) that man has no ethics or morals. He would bring his girlfriends on calls, he came to one call while on narcotics. If he did nothing wrong why fight release of the report?

He has made a fool of his wife with all his running around on her

Not really. I live in Watertown and most of the police report has NOT been released due to interference from the mayor we have. The local newspaper had to sue to get just a portion of the report released and it doesn't include anything about the forensic audit that was done. So basically we as taxpayers are being told we have to pay for an $800,000 settlement because the former chief appears to have violated the terms of a contract he signed (by sending letters out to prospective employers of an other former assistant chief from Watertown) and we taxpayers will never know why we have to pay with higher taxes. The former assistant chief sent samples of dna he got from the watertown FD garbage along with the envelopes to a lab and had it confirmed that Butts licked the envelopes.

With all the debate about unions in Madison, I really wish this story would be brought more to the forefront on the news. It perfectly exemplifies what is wrong with unions. 4 of the firefighters were completely unpunished for viewing pornographic material while on the clock. They argued they had so much downtime that they had time to view porn. In any public sector job you have to actually WORK your full shift.

MTJ the one Asst Chief (Ralph Wandersee) who used the city computer to view porn is not in the union. The two other Asst Chiefs were given written reprimands and the 3 Lts were given coaching letters for allowing playboy magazines in the mens locker room. These types of magazines have been in the fire station for over forty years and all the past fire chiefs have known of it, in fact there is a court case out of California that allows them "Johnson v. LA fire Dept".

The real issue here is that Mike Quint went to the Mayor about Butts using his city cell phone and his city car for personel use. The Mayor did nothing and Butts and Schwenkner trumped up false charges against Quint, to the point of Quint taking a settlement.

If anything Butts is the poster child of why we need Unions. The past two Mayors allowed Butts to drive the fire dept into the ground and rob the city blind. Trust me if it wasn't for the union he would have killed somebody with his action and would still be robbing the tax payers

butts has to do with the death of fire chief and the cover up of a suicide. There is more to this story and guy then anyone really knows unless you been doing your research..butts is involved with more then just stealing tax payers money...there is a huge drug line of smuggling going on in watertown,lake mills, and Milford. cops and judges involved... have your beliefs of what you think is going on, but in the near future you will see this as a bigger story then anyone knows! mark my words, there going down.. just matter of time before he is exposed for being in town again hiding. there not fooling anyone, and have many faults in there organized crime, just needed to follow up on all the people who are running the drugs into out county buildings and you can see how messed up these town's have become, and to think we believe the cops and judges to be good people...
