Lowell Fire Dept.'s list of dangerous buildings grows

Full story: Lowell Sun

Like Hester Prynne in Nathaniel Hawthorne's classic novel, a number of boarded-up buildings throughout the city bear a scarlet letter -- and that list is growing.

If two million dollars of fedrel money fixed the old B&M building on central street WHY does the collage get it now?
They have all kinds of money and should be made to buy the building.
The city is strapped and now we are just handing free shit to the money making collage again. I guess it's who you know and who you blow in this city.

It wasn't the City's building to give, it was the National Park's.

The federal government (aka the national park) owns that buidling. No on else wanted it due to lack of parking. Remember when Sherman Paints was in there?

yeah, last time I checked, Colleges were non-profits, and not money makers. Also, a collage is a collection of items, such as photos, to be displayed as art. A College onthe other hand is an institution of higher learing, something you clearly did not attend...

Do yourself a favor and think before you speak, then maybe next time you won't seem like such an idiot!

another thing rocket man,

it was funded by the federal goverment. If these funds were not used here in Lowell, then they could have been used for a similar project anywhere in America. Just shut your trap and be thankful the funds went to make our community better.

So a city councilor leaves a building standing as a slum, an eyesore for he neighborhood, and a death trap for our firefighters... is anyone going to do anything about it? probably not... It's good to be the king

We zero in on Kazanjian because he is a city councilor. This would be expected from a realty trust but not an active city councilor. If the owner was named Joe Shmoe they would have acted on this. This is the same guy that was accused of price fixing tow contracts on the city. Time to go! The article makes it sound like he recently acquired the property but I think it has been 10 years. If you want to make excuses for an eyesore then you must have some motivation??

I think it is just disrespectful of Kazanjian to the neighbors and residents of this city. Some of us really want this to be a place people want to live in and love.
