With a name like that he couldn't lose in Lowell.

Whenever a young person gets involved in politics I fear they are only using it as a stepping stone. State rep. Murphy ?
This young fellow might just be passing through.
Congrats

Congrats to Patrick. This kid deserves it! He is a hard working kid that any father would love to have his son resemble.
Some folks know, but for those of you that dont, both Patrick and Dan were terrific Golden Glove boxers! I think Dan was the "south-paw". Both were tough competitors.
Go get em' Patrick!

Lets see how long before he goes democrat once the unions get to him and he see's he'll win with them on his side. Probably why he's practicing talking and drinking like ole Ted Kennedy.

An "idoit", huh? You really "throught" so?

How about worrying about how effective he is? The other stuff is just nonsense. The man is from Massachusetts for crissake.

It struck me as a little disingenuous as well. I certainly like the guy and hoped he'd get elected to the council, but still. I too am a 5th generation Lowellian of some Irish decent with deep roots in South Lowell. Even though I am college educated I have that typical urban New England accent - not some copy of an upper-crust Kennedy drawl.

He is a great example on how to run a campaign with little money and the importance of taking the time to speak to voters in person.

We had many candiates and there were so many choices. I did feel Mr. Murphy's radio ads sounded like I was in church. When he arrived at the last city council meeting I felt uncomfortable from both sides. It took so long for him to get to the point and Mr. Mecier cut him off. I think this helped Mr. Murphy and hurt Mr. Mercier.

It will be nice to see a young canadiate with new ideas contribute to the board. However, the so many minutes to speak will not apply to him now and he will be able to speak on a motion for an hour if he chooses.
