Strange you would remember exact day/year being only 12. rainydaywoman43 wrote: i was just wondering if anyone remembers the fire back on sept 26, 1969, on clark street in wilmington. the family was the landers and they lost the mother and 5 kids. i was 12. that fire will forever haunt me, even though i didnt know any of the kids, but just about every kid in school had one of them in their class. i pass the house, or the site of the house, every day on the way home from work.

We lived off Glen Road on Faulkner Ave, but we used Miller Road as our access street. Ice skating on the cranberry bog. Exploring Lubber Brook. Having 10 cents to spend at Tat’s was heaven. Cheeseburgers at Louie’s drugstore. 1956-1957: Went to Mildred H. Rogers 1st & 2nd Grade (Miss Snell and Mrs. Reagan) 1958: Centre School 3rd Grade (Mrs Riley) 1959: The beginning of 4th Grade at WHS while the Round School (Glen Road School) was being completed then being among the first students to attend the new school. Moved to Southern California in 1960 and went all thru Junior High talking with that Wilmington accent.

We moved out of Wilmington from Columbia St in 1975 to Florida. However, I remember: The small news store (Ames) uptown. My aunt used to work there.
Weinbergs - plastic containers full of candy and Quoddy moccasins.
Church St hardware
Father Mackin (scary guy)
Hanging out at the old Fire Station
The Fire Horn
Walker School
Mrs. Kevil (I was terrified of this teacher at the Walker school when I was in 1st grade).
The Bog
Rice's Pond where we played hockey
Ricky's Dog House
Jack in the Box
Many Many other fond memories....
