I really miss Mancini's; McD's is there now. The food was always good and the help was very nice. Of course I'm a little biased because my godchild's sister worked there. The other people were good too. They had an extensive menu. You could get pizza, Italian food, fish, burgers and chicken. Hard to find a place like that now. I can't really blame them for selling to Mickey D's for a nice price.

wt grants??
the lake in the summer and the smelly beach house.
trying to yell across the lake.
the shady trees at silver lakes where the old ladies and babys were.
the fish at the other end of the lake where no one went swimming. none of the kids in the neighborhood wanted to go to the lake with us because my mother made them swim in that shallow baby section where the fish were.

i was just wondering if anyone remembers the fire back on sept 26, 1969, on clark street in wilmington. the family was the landers and they lost the mother and 5 kids. i was 12.
that fire will forever haunt me, even though i didnt know any of the kids, but just about every kid in school had one of them in their class. i pass the house, or the site of the house, every day on the way home from work.

ah yes tattersalls.crowds of barefoot and tanned kids from the beach crowding in picking out candy.me one of them. walking back to silver lake with our goodies.running up to the ice cream truck and the ice cream would be melting before we even got back to the blankets. wearing id tags for residency and lending them to our relatives. making us get out of the water so that the guards could check our tags.getting stuck in the smelly bath house during a lightening storm.having to ride my bike home in it because the lifeguards closed the beachhouse. looking out over the beach and looking out at that big house on the other side. listening to our radio shack transistor radios and getting all the info on what top 40 songs were hot. people watching and naming people we didnt know. there was the weird love american style guy(he also drove a taxi in town) and the very old man who would swim extremly slowly.my brother was a life guard there for most of the 70s and i knew all the lifeguards. life was fun.

sunday school on saturdays in the st thomas church basement.
and afterwards...
the bus driver ken, who would make sure to tell us that we were heading for a bump and we would all go to the back of the bus and begin bouncing up and down on the seats so that when we hit the bumps, we were air borne. that was FUN!!! we did that when the bus was almost empty because our stop was one of the last.
saving your dime that your mom gave you, to give to the church donation basket after sunday school, and running over to villanova hall instead to buy one of those long tall pop drinks from the vending machine?
fr croak? fr berube? both were not kid friendly.
first communion?
when the library was as big as a tool shed with windows.
when we got the new library. my girls scout troop moved the books.
having to memorize the act of contrition. whatever that was.
matinees at the high school auditorium on saturdays. disney was the most common.
the swingin' dance/teen center in the basement of villanova hall?

When Textron was known as Avco. I worked there for 4 1/2 years on the 80s in what I call now my life before M/A-COM. Some of the guys I knew in the drafting dept would refer to Woodside's as Building W.
I loved the original Stelio's and I can still remember when the land was being filled in for Mike's Pizza and one of the subs they offered was the AVCO MX. I used to love Mike's original meat pies when they first opened.
