Well I guess they'll be a couple of job openings at the Lowell Water Department!!

He's on PAID administrative leave? So he gets extra vacation time, courtesy of the taxpayers, to use his boat, which apparently has plenty of gas. Classic.

Are there criminal charges coming? This is a double theft against the taxpayers -- once for taking the gas and the other for being MIA at his water department job.

Perhaps it's time for him to use his vast skills and experience at a job in the private sector.

Speaking of which, what a great example to set for the school kids in town.

Is it my imagination or does every Lowell employee live in Dracut with a few exceptions for Chelmsford? No one would condone stealing gas or going boating on city time but is that more criminal than holding a city job and doing zero work? Mercier's clearly both a crook and a moron but is he more of a crook than a city employee accepting a paycheck for doing nothing? There are lots of those in all departments. The city will likely cut a lot of staff in the next budget process but you can bet that no one like Ron Mercier will get cut. Lynch will be tough with him now that he's exposed himself but most city cuts effect the new, the young and the un connected. It's funny, those seem to be the only city, police, fire, school employees who actually work for their pay checks. I actually feel sorry for Lynch having to deal with this system.

if he had a real job like in the private sector, his ahss woulda been fired a long time ago. he thinks he is untouchable just like alot of draconians......
