But, back to why you must be an idiot. Are you saying that the town, or the camps should have had the electrical transformer on an electric pole 'tested'? Are you on crack? Should the state do a survey of all transformers out there and proactively replace the 'scary' ones? Why don't we just cleanup all the asbestos in the state while we're at it?
You failed your own idiot test again.

The fact is, they were notified of the issues with the transformers well in advance of the blowup, and there were only two that needed replacing. There IS a paper trail for all of this, you know.

It's going overboard to suggest that all asbestos in the state should be cleaned up, but the asbestos that is already IN the camp buildings and has been identified as such SHOULD be remediated. I'm not saying to go looking for issues, simply clean up the ones you KNOW about.

And don't lie about it.

So which is it nut bag? Do you want to save your tax dollars or do you want to spend money on these camps?

You've squealed about the money spent on the camps to maintain and improve the buildings. You said the electricity shouldn't have been restored.

Now you want the guys in white suits to pull up the floor tiles that contain asbestos? Who are they harming left alone?

Oh, and I'm sure you 'remediated' your lead paint problem by calling in a state licensed removal company. Do you now have a certificate of inspection? Bet that was expensive, huh? Too bad it didn't prevent your brain damage.

Listen all,

The issue is that the property now belongs to the TAXPAYERS of Westford.

When it was bought the camps were of no use to anyone because of years of neglect by the former users/owners.

As a resident i voted to purchase the property to keep it from being developed to line the pockets of developers.

My property taxes went up significantly as a result, and thus i'm not willing for any more tax increases so some people can 'recapture the rapture' from years gone by on my dime.

This ill feeling came about from the EBSC thinking that they still had the right to camp up there, close off the camps to the public, assault the locals, there is a police report on this. Another incident required the police a order to EBSC personnel to leave the camps, and not return.

So,If you former campers still think many Westford residents are snobby, mean, cruel, etc then so be it.

In conclusion, you are welcome to enjoy the camps like everyone else, just remember its not exclusively for your enjoyment.

P.S. Your $$$ donations to preserve this beautiful unique place would be thankfully accepted.

I live in Westford, voted to buy the property, and although I was not at the party on Sunday, I think it was a wonderful thing to do - both for the citizens of Westford and for all the former campers and counselors who attended the overnight camps over the last 70 years. Kudos to the Conservation Commission and the Friends of East Boston Camps for all the work put into organizing the event.

I am kind of thrown here......I currently am a Revere resident.....so Revere beach when it needs to be cleaned and xtra police force needs to be added due to overcrowded, people coming from DIFFERENT towns and cities to utlize the beach my tax dollars go towards that...I realize it is a PUBLIC beach but why are my tax dollars paying for what others enjoy hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm why can they not just stay in there own towns? Donations would be greatly appreciated for Revere Beach also....and do not blame all the campers and staff for a few isolated incidents........

This is not an accurate analogy. Revere Beach is an MDC property, owned and managed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, not the City of Revere.

The floor tiles aren't "left alone" - they are broken, chipped and peeling in places. Keep playing like you know what you're talking about, really. It's very cute.

I want the MASTER PLAN followed. To the letter. NO remediation work done unless it isn't coming from taxpayers. NO caretaker salary. NO campers in there unless it is safe and remediation is done.

You "Friends of EBC" want campers in there so bad, then follow the damn Master Plan you created and voted for and raise the money to pay for it yourself.

Exactly why we don't want this place to turn into some kind of playground for others at the expense of us locals.

I must say I would absolutly be willing to donate money towards EBC to be used for EBC. I am sure if you asked other past campers and employees they too would be willing to donate, I can stake my life on it. The concern of past campers and employees is to do what is best for all children (whether Westford children or inner city children)and give them a place to enjoy summers.
I believe I have stated before I am an empoyee of Childrens Hospital Boston and there is way more troubeling things in life then the Bull shit some past and present westford residents are moning about in this
thread.......Hope you all have a wonderfull summer and enjoy the grounds of EAST BOSTON CAMPS to the fullist, I will....:)

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Pisces

Having to bow down to convention or limitations is enough to make you want to scream right now, and you'll do your utmost to rebel in any way you can. Be careful about this because you could easily get on the wrong side of someone who has power or authority over you. It feels as though you're battling with forces that want to keep you under control, and you don't like it one bit.
