I live about half block away. I heard the screams and gunshots. It is practically in our back yard. I have small children. It is so scary to have this so close to home. My dog even went all crazy. He heard it too. I just pray for who all was involved. I heard that the one that was stabbed didnt make it. But you know how people talk. Cant believe anything anymore...

How can people be so selfish? He left behind a son that will miss him very much and for the people that were there (especially his so called girlfriend) and not wanting to talk. She is all to blame especially because she don't want to talk. How selfish and stupid.

One Judge will have the final say. No one has the right to take the life of another, no matter what the circumstances. My heart does go out to the family of Orlando Martinez. Only God knows what caused this tragedy. I knew Orlando, he was one that always had a smile and hug for me. I am not saying he was an innocent person, but I will not say he was a bad person either. We, all have one Judge, even if one does or does not believe in our Heavenly Father, no one is promised tomorrow. I knew the good side of Orlando.

The blame is on drugs, selfish people (his girlfriend and cousin). Why aren't they talking to the police? What makes me so angry is they don't realize the hurt they have caused for the family, especially for his little boy. He will have to grow up without a dad. To him his dad was his hero now a dead hero. I hope all these people pay and they will on judgement day.

I totally agree with everyone. NO ONE DESERVES THE ULTIMATE. Yes his son is gonna have to live without a father. His son was 11 years old. And prob knew him. That is so sad. My daughter lost her father last year. He wasnt murdred but he is still gone. And she was only three when he passed. She didn't know him and the feeling I had when he passed is so aweful. Now to imagine an 11 year old boy that prob did know him. That poor little kid. My heart goes out to him dearly. Yeah it was over drugs. But usually to stop that lifestyle you either have to have a life altering experience or death. In this tragic case it was death. In the end hey will all have their judgement day. I didn't know Orlando but my sister did and since gradeschool. And as far as she is concerned he always took up for her. He was good at heart. I know when went to the light. And found his way there. God bless him

I do not know you, and I thank God for that, because you mention the word hate alot, and that is not of God. A person that has hate in their heart, have an unforgiving heart. How can one have hate and yet say they care? You need to look deep in your heart, because of things...such as hate...lead to situations like the shooting where a young man was taken from his children. Well I understand he left a son behind and lost his life but that's what happens when you mess with drugs. He was there to Rob the owner of the shop, Orlando and his friend was the one who had the gun. They stabbed the tatto owner in the neck and he took the gun from the other robber and started shooting. The g/f got shot in the hand because she was line of fire, one guy got away, diving out a window, the one who pulled the gun in the first place. I heard they were all high on drugs at the time. It's sad but that's Hobbs for you.

Will you tell what you know, or will you let this crime go unsolved? Were you there with them? Is this how you know what happened?

They had a great police department at one time but now the chief thinks unsecured vehicle loads are a big problem. People are killing each other almost every weekend! The city commission has managed to drive a great police department into the ground by bringing in police chiefs that are so weak. It really is a shame that most cops in Hobbs are more worried about the union than they are about crime. Every time we have another murder they say they need people to talk to them. I thought that is what detectives are for, to get people to talk.

Carl Mackey helped ruin the police departmentt way before he was a commisioner. I cant imagine what he could do now. I say we blame it all on him.
