Just wondering what everyone's thoughts are on our local hospital. We had a very bad outcome with the ER. Just would like some feed back to see how every one else feels.

Around 2 weeks ago I was there and had to go back twice. My son was tackled-hugged by his younger sister and he fell back into the bowflex and cut his ear where there was a slice and blood running down my arm. Well we went there and it was taking forever, but there were some people who came in who were critical to the point of one was flying out and blood was coming in for a transfusion. I was given the saline and sterile gauze to rinse my son's ear off. So, I asked for the glue so I could fix it. I decided to leave because there was more of a waiting time and I was told there was one person in front of me. There was some people who had gotten mad when the patient was just coughing, could walk, and was not like the other patient in critical condition. I left and came back later because I had to have my sons ear closed within 12 hours. I went back and he was given an ointment and his ear is closing up slowly, but prefered to have the glue to be for sure his ear would close without a little chunk out of it. I know there is this one nurse who works there that likes to argue, and one time I went there to get some meds for I was swollen to the point of CHF and they wanted to not see me because I was asking for lasix & K+...and in triage, the nurse never looked at my leg that has the collapsed artery. The nurse told me there was OTC lasix, which there is no way because lasix is a med that requires k+ and cannot be played with and labs should be done to monitor k+. What happened to you and your experience with ER?

Well let me first say that are some good doc, and some good nurses.
But my grand baby 3weeks ago was admitted into the hospital because she had a very bad infection. It took pulling teeth and demanding to admit her. It wasnt her doc, that was giving us hard time, her doc wanted her admitted. It was the er staff. Well she was admitted and was there for 4 days. 2 weeks later, She still isnt better, same thing they sends her to the er because she needed iv antibiotics. We were there for 6 1/2 hours.The was very rude and so one of the nurses. We tried to tell the nurses that putting a iv in this baby was hard to and that they had to have the anast, do because her vains blow all the time. The nurse oder us out of the room. 45 min later she called us back and she never got the iv in. She blew 3 vains trying to do so. They did do chest xrays and did draw blood, how ever the lady who drew her blood was very nice, and took her time. When the doc came back in at the end of the night said there was nothing wrong with my grand baby, chest xrays are good and blood work is fine. So much more happend durning this visit, That i would be here all day typing. Well we all went home, 2 days later my daughter in law takes her back to her doc, for check up and lord and behold come to find out my grand baby has pnemonia, and mersa. The Doc had made comments while we were in there, about her doc, He was very rude. So i did not let it rest there. I got my son and daughter in law into to the CEO , we had a meeting with her and the er director And come to find out this wasnt the first complaint against this ER doc. While we were sitting there we also found out that some of the nurses that night were very concernd about my grand baby that they thought she should had been admitted. Let me just add my grand baby was borned with kidneys problems also. So i was very upset when they released her sent her home and said nothing was wrong with her. And the reports that her doc got from the hopital showed other wise. I could go on but the point is if something happens and you dont agree call the CEO.

They did a great job for me......
Wonderful work-up, timely, prep/package for transprot Arranged a plane to fly me to Lubbock for 5x bypass surgery.... I am up and about and ready to fight again for another day!!! Thanks ER Nurses, Nurse Practitioner, Doctors, you all are awsome,(expecially the female NP) |
||||
er doc's do NOT admit to the hospital...... If YOUR doctor wanted the baby admitted, why did he not call in orders (or come to hospital) and admit the baby..... this is a BS story!!!!! |

Dottie this is not BS story, by no means, The doc that my grand baby has does not have hospital privelgas. So there for she can not admit them. And yes i know that er docs can not admit but that does not mean when he called the peds doc that she could not be admitted. So dont shoot your mouth off. And Tucker i am so glad you had good care. Like i said there are good doc and good nurses.

Dottie, Her story sounds very familiar. My friend's grandbaby was sick with pneumonia a few months ago and took him into ER. His PCP was out of town and could not get a hold of and was instructed to go to ER. A chest x-ray was done and they said he was fine. Well, the next night he became worse and labored breathing, and the next day, his PCP was there, and he had him do more x-rays, and read the first set, and he had pneumonia both times, and was admitted. The ER did this to my other friend who is an adult, and had to go back twice and was admitted with pneumonia and I believe the hospital had to relieve her charges because it was THEIR F up! And grammy1, if your grandbaby is that sick, I would suggest going to Lubbock to have additional tests done. |

Dottie,
most doctors here do not have hospital rights. Only the ones who do surgery. Hospital admittance is done through the ER doctor and hospitalists, who are the hospital dr. Hospitalists do rounds and work in all areas except OB. They work with the surgical doctors. There are two hospitalists who work @ this hospital so far one on and one off. One hospitalist has a second job as well at a drs office because she personally told me. Hospitalists communicate with the PCPs. Everything has changed and it sucks! And all I can say is people who deal with the hospitalists better have a voice to speak with and make damn sure they understand what you are saying because one let my uncle go at least 9 hours in pain without changing his med because SHE thought it was a strong pain med because it was 80 times stronger than morphine and it did not touch him, and would NOT listen to me to change it, and when the second hospitalist came in, he listened, added a not so powerful med, that isnt a narcotic and it helped. |

Well Dottie i am sorry for what you went through. It just upsets me that you said in the first place what a wrote sounded like a bs story. My grand baby does a specialist who she see's in alb, But when something likes this comes up you expect the best care for yur loved ones. And she has to stay well so when she goes back next month if she has to have sugery, there wont be any delays. But the care she got in the ER that night was incompatant. And when we did speak with the ER director, and the CEO they were already aware of what happend because a few of the nurses that were there were very worried about my grand baby they said she should have been admitted. I dont want to argue butwith any one about this i just wanted to how many people out there this happens to. And by the way the IV they tried putting in her 3times and never could get it in well guess what they still put it on the bill. So i suggest that every one who goes there get a copy of your bill that night. |

1 We all have mrsa already, just that our body keeps in under control. Mrsa is in our nose. mrsa gets to be a problem when staph, or bacteria enter our blood stream and is then septic, blood poisoning or septicemia, infection in our blood. |

1 Ok let me guess...you are on welfare and enjoy spending tax dollars on runny noses and tummy aches. What a comment "I go there quit(e) often, as if you're proud to be a hypochondriac, don't you have a regular doctor to harass? |

You are not assuming the above post was by me, just wondering because of the thyst at the end of scrooge? |

the issue is UNNECESSARY use of the er.......... going to the ER (often) for jock itch, runny nose, tooth ache, etc is ABUSE of the system and the taxpayer |
||||
I agree. tired of seeing ppl go in there and then they bytch becuz they r not seen and there is one in critical condition. parents need to know the symptoms of something before going..it is a waste of er time and money...i hate having to go to er. thank god I only go once in a while. i can diagnose myself and my kids better than they can. |

Are you saying that we all have Methcillin Resistant Staph Areus and our body keeps it in control. DON'T THINK SO!! You go on to say that mrsa (Methcillin Resistant Staph Areus) only become a problem when "staph or bacteria" enters our blood stream. You are very confused and totally lack an understanding of the situation of mrsa or what it is. |
