Business owner facing charges after domestic incident

And another outstanding member of our community is exposed.

Make sure you don't complain about anything at the Trinity, I don't want anyone else to be hurt.

This is truly an unfortunate incident. I have a seven year old and a 16 mth old. just a wonderful little family. It is truly hard for others to understand the whole story when one side is printed. I love my wife, and my kids. When all the dust settles we plan on working together for sake of our family and our committments to the lord. This has been realy hard on our kids. I thank everyone for there kindness and support.

Been there,done that.Something I live with daily.I hope you,Derek,realize what you have.Having few dealings with you,I'm not going to come on here and chastize you.I have no right nor does anyone else.I wasn't raised with money and if you think that get's you and takes you anywhere you want to go,think again.You have the opportunity to make great things happen,but humble you are not.Try it you might like it.Also,as a new business owner,when someone asks for a tortilla whether or not it comes with the meal,you should give it to them.Just some good business advice!I hope everything works out for you guys.

Big bucks says she trys to drop the charges. To late for that but she'll try to help him out at trial. Smart money is on her returning to same kind of treatment after it's all over with. So in the end, who cares? Atleast we got a hard hitting, top notch investigative report from the news paper.

Well, it's really not "investigative reporting" so much as it's a re-written criminal complaint.

Derek- keeping your whole family in my thoughts and prayers. While I understand the Current-Argus' duty in printing stories like this, it does suck in that the media coverage only really brings more hardship to children and everyone. It's a no win situation.

Shadenfreude is ultimately a sin. I understand the need for justice, but hope it works out in a way that allows everyone to move forward with their life.

Well everybody keep in mind that the media news and sometimes cops can target and blow everything up?Like why is this incident any diffrent than the others?but this one got front page which is very embaressing to the parties involved!I saw Derek B. after, he looked pretty bad black eye even and what apeared to be some bruises as well. The whole story isnt being told.

It's unfortunate that this too will play out here on this forum when it's nobodys bussiness. What happened was wrong and ultimately they'll propably stay together but not until all you gossip mongers have had your say or even added to the story. I personally don't know them but I wish them well.

The first time I met this arrogant asshead person Derek at the beach, I knew he was something special!
I was looking at the palm trees at the beach and noticed they were growing under the power lines, and he said it would be years before they would touch them, and it was NOT A PROBLEM!

I'm sure married couples fight all the time and go through stuff like this. I'm not saying this should be allowed but why does this stuff make the papers. I know some men that have done worse things to their wives and the incident didnt make the paper. Hope things get better for them in the future and he learns from this that him being a business owner will cause so much attention. I've known Nichole since high shool and shes a sweet women, very caring and kind. Like I said hope things get better for these two.

This is not the first time you have treated Nicole like crap. You were a controlling ass long before you two were married. Do you remember insisting she keep as as thin as a rail because you only wanted to be with someone with a supermodel figure and telling her that is what someone like you expected and deserved. Do you remember putting her down on a daily basis, calling her at work constantly to make sure she was doing what you expected, to the point that your calls were no longer put through. You control her you have beaten her down and took any confidence away.

Those of us who knew Nicole when you were dating her know a lot Derek you did not want a wife you wanted someone you could show off, control, and use. You think way to much of yourself.

This is Carlsbad and though you make think of yourself as something special in the big picture you are nothing more then a self obsessed a**hole.

Oh by the way reread your bible as a true christian is a lot different then what you and many of the well to do silver spoon folks in this town like to pretend they are. Sad thing is on the day of judgment a lot of you will learn that the hard way.

Derek had the black eye before this incident occurred. If you knew anything, you would know that Derek had an incident at work, and that's where the "black eye and bruises" came from. If people would stop jumping to conclusions, then we would all be better off. How dare you make the victim seem like she deserved the abuse.

IF (key word) any of these statements are factual (as in based in
reality), it would not appear that he thinks of himself as "special"; mental health professionals would likely concur that
in fact he would more likely be highly insecure, selfish and con-
trolling. He feels threatened to allow another to make their own
choices.

That aside, hopefully both adults will gain a better understanding
of abuse and a sense of self, and they as well as the children can
look forward to a happy and healthy life.(Again, assuming these
alleged statements have any basis in fact.)

You're right, there's always two sides, or more. Hopefully you
