We are bringing a group of 11 to Carlsbad on Dec. 5 to see Christmas on the Pecos. We are looking for a family friendly and YUMMY place to eat. Any suggestions?

What can everyone eat of 11? What type of place are you looking for? Personally, for Carlsbad, only place that I can think of is Chili's or the Steven's for steak. There is not really any good place for a good price.

I didn't realize there was a Chili's. That is probably our best option. Is there a good pizza place?

Maw for some reason is biased towards Lucy's, you see she's a self proclaimed trailer living hillbilly who doesn't mind the smell of sewer or food poisonin with her meal. There have been way more negative things than positive about Lucy's. Save yourself grief.
Here are my suggestions:

Mexican: Rojas
Chain dining *but why do this?) Chili's
Lunch Buffet during the week: Miller and Son's steakhouse
Casual dining with small town flair (great greek food) Court Cafe Downtown
If you stay the night Court Cafe has a great brunch on Sunday.
BBQ: Danny's Place

Lucy's is gross. I might eat there if I were starving and every other place was closed, but I'd never expose my family it.

Red Chimney BBQ is the most family-friendly place to eat. At least used to be - probably some new places around that I haven't eaten at.

Chili's? Uh-uh. Noisy, crowded... a place for young wannabe yuppies, not families.

Steven's wasn't bad last time I went there, not bad at all. Good food. A bit $$ for families though, and more formal than other places.

Never been to Danny's BBQ. Where's it at?

Danny's BBQ was voted by the America people as the 6th best BBQ in the nation. They were in a national magazine as being the 6th best better than any other in Carlsbad for sure.

Oh yeah, well I don't remember anything being passed around for the nation to vote on the best BBQ, does anyone else? As far as nice atmosphere, cleanliness and BBQ I would have to vote for Red Chimney.
At least Red Chimney did not get there microwave for heating up food and the health inspectors list as being dirty.
And as far as Lucy's we just got back from Monday night football and the place good and the food was great, fast service. Maybe it's just you old fogies on here that don't like a fun bar/restaurant. Heck stay away and go to your furr's for your old fogie senior discounts.

Ate there a couple of times, years ago. Can't remember how the food was, so must not have been great. It COULDN'T have been as bad as LaFonda or Cortez!

Beats the hell out of me why there's so much awful Mexican food in Carlsbad and Artesia...

I would be interested in knowing how the food is at Larez. I spoke to the owners this past week and they seemed very excited to be serving the community. This town needs some good Mexican restaurants. I have not been in the restaurant in such a long time, I do hope they completely remodeled the inside, I have trepidations about going to place that has been closed up for such a long time. I get visions of grime, cobwebs, critters, nesting......ewwwwwww ok I better not psyche myself out or I may never try it out.

If you are a member of the Elks organization, they have had the Best Steaks in Carlsbad for the last 3 years in town. Definately the cheapest steak but the most delicious around. And it is just across the street to where you will get on the boat for Christmas on the Pecos. You won't regret it! We eat there almost everyone weekend.

Daily Horoscope for December 9

Pisces

You have a one track mind today, dear Pisces, and it's running along very ambitious lines, absolutely determined to achieve something you've been attempting for ages. Can you be so committed that you're prepared to let everything else go by the wayside for the time being? That's great, but don't become obsessive about it.
