I can see how it could drive someone to the point where they would do something like pass on the shoulder. If you are too afraid to drive your car then stay home. You are not that important! There are too many people on the road who don't know how to drive and it seems like they are all out there now an their way to and from the mall to bu some POS trinket for their grandkid. STAY OFF THE ROAD!!!! RIP all Well, it is unfortunately inpatient people with your mentality that cause innocent poeple to be killed. And for what? Your own selfish needs? We all have to remember that we all share the road and no one has the right to endanger the lives of others. There was call placed just prior to the accident about this vehicle passing other cars on the shoulder so I doubt it was just one car "in her way" She was hell bent on getting somewhere in a hurry at the expense of her own life and the life of an innocent father and son. Sorry for your loss Anthony.

Hmmm...well judging from Ms. Carter's fascinating, diverse and lengthy judicial history, my guess is this was not a situation where the person in front of her was going "20 miles per hour under the speed limit."
She has (had) 13 different cases against her. Just one case (#10K05037097) has over a dozen charges, including marijuana possession, cocaine possession, DWI, Negligent Driving, Failure To Drive Right Of Center, driving with a suspended license and, to top things off, giving a fictitious name to the arresting officer. The other 12 cases follow a similar pattern.
Why wasn't this person in jail?

Right you are Dawn. Please note that Jennifer Maria Adel Carter had a long record of crimes behind and wheel and elsewhere ... including drinking while driving and first degree ESCAPE. She often drove without a license and at speeds more than 20 mph over the limit. I believe she had a trial coming up in early 2008. Special blame to those in the "system" who allowed her to be free to kill.

She passed more than one vehicle on the shoulder. Kevin, I'd counter your comment with "If you're in such a hurry, then you should have left earlier". This woman should have been in prison long ago. At least she can't do it again and she won't be living off of my tax dollars in a MD prison. If she wanted to kill herself so badly, all she had to do was sit on the railroad tracks at Lander boat ramp. Then we could have just hosed the train off in Brunswick and the world would be a better place.

Weak judges and prosecutors are to blame for her being out of jail to begin with. Prosecutors that make ridiculous plea bargains for no good reason. Judges without the guts to put these people away. What about our legislature? No stomach to pass mandatory sentencing laws for these crimes. I wonder why? Because they see dui as just a bad judgement call. Now two innocent people are dead because of a weak liberal state's laws, or lack thereof. My heart goes out to the innocent victims family.

jenny carter wasn't a terrible person. she didn't make the best choices, and i'm sorry for the price many people and families have had to pay for her mistakes, but it isn't necessary to rake her over the coals. she is now gone. the cost was high, but it's over and done with. the blame is obviously to be placed on her for her recklessness, but no one aside from our courts is to blame for her being behind the wheel. please, i understand people are hurt. i understand people are no longer living. she wasn't a bad person. she just made bad decisions courtesy of the courts not being stringent enough with her criminal history. if she had been locked up, no one would have been hurt. the fault is hers, but only to a certain extent.

You have got to be kidding. She obviously was a bad person. Marijuana, cocaine, DWI and killing two innocent people. That is a bad person. The courts screwed up but her actions are not the fault of the courts.

Obviously this driver had a lot of issues, but that aside, isn't this section of US 15 pretty dangerous to begin with? I mean it's two lanes with rumble strips on all sides and mandatory headlight use. Maybe its time for SHA to do something more.

You IDIOT!!! SHE was behind the wheel, not "the courts". She doesn't deserve sympathy and she's not a victim, but the perpetrator of numerous crimes. Good riddance to her. It's just too bad that she took good people with her.
