The New superintendent of the rockford school district is taking things to an extreme. She has just banned wearing hoodies inside the schools. what harm is wearing a hoodie going to do? they will let you wear a sweatshirt but not a hoodie. Is a hood really going to make that much difference. They keep the schools freezing and expect you not to wear anything. You think that they'd want you to stay warm so you dont get sick since everyone is freaking out about the H1N1 flu. If it is for security purposes, thats ridiculous. They could easily smuggle something in in their backpack. Chicago has a higher crime rate then us, yet they still allow their students to wear hoodies. The next school board meeting is :
Tue., November 10, 2009
7:00 p.m.
201 S. Madison St., 207
Rockford, IL 61104

If you could show up and help us support against this rule, it would be helpful. Please let me know if you will be attending.

I am not sure what you are referring to, but hoodies are not banned. If an individual school has a uniform policy, and hoodies are not part of the policy, then they can't be worn in THAT school. They are not banned district wide.

Sorry to inform you, but we just received letter in the mail saying that we can no longer wear them inside the school. Its on the district 205 website also. they said that anyone who breaks anything within that dress code can be sent home.

Melissa, You need to read your email more carefully "...hoodies may be worn, but the hoods may not be worn. The hood are considered 'head gear' and it is not permissible to wear 'head gear' in the building." That was sent by the Superintendent.

Maybe you need to read the dress code more carefully, and i already had a discussion w/the superintendent, no thanks you to. I quote from the WEBSITE updated daily. "NO HOODED TOPS: GARMENTS WITH HOODS ARE NOT TO BE WORN IN SCHOOL. HOODED JACKETS AND COATS MAY BE WORN TO SCHOOL BUT MUST BE PLACED IN A LOCKER UPON ARRIVAL TO SCHOOL."
AKA no hoodies are to be worn around school, must be placed in your locker.
So check up on your facts before you try saying something else next time :)

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Cancer

Mercury turning retro is offering you the chance to make sweeping and long-lasting changes to your life, and to clear the ground for some fertile growth in 2010. Lawyers and legal matters, debates, contract negotiations, partnership or other alliances, and joint ventures of any kind need attention. As a Cancerian you don't like endings, but you must now bring an end to any situation or relationship that is holding you back or has passed its sell-by date. Look forward, not back, if you want a glittering future.
