Driving into Mexico risky

Q I'm going to Mexico, and I think if I rent a car in Mexico and use my MasterCard, I get some insurance automatically.

As an international business consultant, for the past twenty years, I have traveled extensively in Mexico using rental cars. I have never encountered any problems. You are correct in recommending that Mexican auto insurance be purchased. Insurance through your credit card may not be enough. Also, any death or injury resulting from a car accident may lead to criminal charges. The best advice is to drive defensively, stay focused and alert and follow the rules. 31

Just be careful when traveling. That counts.
