Motorists gripe about Frisco gas prices

In a city with a median household income of $95,034, I am surprised anyone noticed.

Why the price gap? Frisco Mayor Maher Maso explained that Frisco has an ordinance restricting the number of gas stations in the city. "You can only have a maximum of two per intersection, and you're not allowed mid-block service stations," he said. "In other words, you can only locate on corners."

That means less competition, and typically, higher prices.

Mayor Maso said that the ordinance — along with Frisco land prices, building prices, and the economy in general — is driving new station owners away and fueling higher prices.

I follow Mr Maso right up until "typically higher prices"

Mayor Maso, in my opinion is a good man. I was employed by him fifteen years ago at one of his gas stations. But being a working man still, I will drive a few miles down Coit to save a buck and give my money to someone else.

They are as little as $1.97 right outside of town.
