Sorry, I went to Lawrence County schools. Spelling was not important.

You left out guidance counselors. Seems like only their people get all of the help. Not right especially when ever everybody knows they don't deserve it.

You're right about the guidance counselors. The top student in the senior class (ACT-32) applied for one of the top scholarships, of course she didn't get it. One of the guidance counselors sons' did and his best buddy who is such a poor student he is being tutored. This is nothing new, it's being going on forever. On Senior Awards night, parents cannot believe scholarships that they've never heard about, being awarded. Parents cannot wait for their children to get out of this system. Looks like some of them aren't waiting, they're moving them to other districts, so they'll have chances for scholarships.

I wish the state would step in and get rid of all of them! Starting with the BOE! Do you remember when the newspaper had how much their salaries were, it is radiculous! When is someone going to step in and stop this! The people of Lawrence Co. need to get together and stop this! The parents here always make sure their kids have nice clothes and cars but could care less about their education!

Oh wow if this is true it should be turned into the state. This sounds like abuse of power and is considered a crime if found to be true. Trust me this happens a lot in bigger cities and often times it ends up hurting the student's reputation when it is really the fault of the leadership. I never dreamed it would happen in a little Christian town like Louisa. I am truly saddened if this is true.

I know why people are leaving. This system pretends that things are great and they really aren't. Good people in leadership roles have left because of the lack of respect given by the administration. Things have not improved under Mr. Armstrong. As far as I can tell it has only gotten worse. I have talked to a lot of people and everyone seems miserable that is involved in this school system that includes the students, teachers, bus drivers, aides, and janitors. I have never seen and heard so much discontent. I believe the state should step in and remove the people causing the problems. The buck always stops at the top. I believe the people at the top is the problem.

the good kids and their parents are leaving because this county has always been about one thing power. the people in charge are nothing more than lying, cheating, greedy varmints. my kids will go to lawrence county to 8th grade and then they will go to another school for 4 years. it will be a hardship but i dont see it improving as long as the present leadership is at the high school and board office.
no way

Excellent? My daughter went to that school and we reported the cheating and nothing was done. I have no confidence in that school after the way our children were used. Excellent? Not until the cheating stops and the truth comes out. We were deceived and the people it really hurt were the kids. Shame on those people involved. The Fallsburg leadership and teachers know all about it and so does the people in charge. You also know who we are and how you can pretend to be excellent is beyond me. It will come out one of these days and Legacy of Excellence will be a Legacy of No Ethics.

That was my biggest disappointment in Jeff May. Fallsburg was busted, red-handed, for cheating and his people covered it up. Wait a minute, those people are still working in the board office. Nothing has changed, cheating school being promoted by the husband of the cheater. At least the other schools get their scores honestly.

I never let my kids attendd LC schools and always drove to Boyd Co. I wanted to ensure they had a good chance at getting an education and not one like I received while attending LC Schools. I didnt like all the politics and the fact that the school was failing and no one was willing to stand up and fix it.

I remember the cheating deal, and how May covered it up. He's gone but the people at the central office that covered it up are still there. Most of us have no choice where we send our kids, we have to work. We all know who the problem is, but what can we do?

In reviewing the 2010 scores.. Fallsburg had dropped and LMS was ahead of them. I believe Mr Castle is working hard to improve the Middle School. I also believe as parents we must hold our kids accountable too. We need to set high expectations for them and make them live by it. I check my kids scores weekly on the website. If not honor roll material..someone is going to pay and its not the fault of the teachers.

I do know that when my child graduated....none of the awards were given to her with a high ACT score. I know that some of the scholarships are available only in certain subject areas. If you apply for a certain scholarship, you have to be going in a certain field of study in other words. But it really doesn't matter....she didn't have to depend on these scholarship from LC. She is blessed to have other means to pay for her education. And she did it by brains and not sports either ;)

Daily Horoscope for June 19

Leo

You need to vary your domestic routine slightly today to avoid feeling bored or restless, especially if the day threatens to be rather predictable. Think of ways to introduce a note of spontaneity into the proceedings, even if they're very minor, because they'll make you feel more lively and on the ball. If you're going shopping you'll be tempted by some impulse buys.
