I want to see this issue debated in public. That way every commisioner can be judged on his/her own vote. We need to know who are the fiscally responsible and who are the spenders. The idea that the commission could vote to increase it's salary wouldn't have worked under any administration other than mayor Arp. The mayor got the commission to increase his salary by tying their salary to his salary.

The article said that Bob Franke and Austin Shaver were absent. Shaver resigned so that means that Franke was absent. Why should he get paid when he's a no show?

Why should commissioners get a pay raise this year when employees didn't?
wishful thinking

Cissy, don't hold your breath waiting to see or hear this bunch say anything about cutting their pay in public.

The majority of commissioners and Mayor Estelle Herron are pure tax and spend.

If Sharon Yarborough and Don Miller can insist on bringing the issue to a vote. They can make a motion and a second.

Give them $30.00 per meeting attended and then see who is willing to "serve"!
These "public servant" positions are a source of extra income with few hours required, very little accountability, and good money!
Cudos to Ms. Yarbrough for making the suggestion.
She might make a great Mayor next time around!

Word is that Van Shaver who is running for a second term 5th district school board seat wants to run against Sharon Yarbrough in 2 years. I hope the voters in that district figure that out about Shallow Van and put him out to pasture with his goats and switchgrass. As far as commissioner Yarbrough running for county mayor, I like that idea. Go Sharron.

Is the commission going to address the salary cuts in the next meeting?

Daily Horoscope for May 23

Capricorn

You're keen to look on the bright side of things and to ignore anything unpleasant or worrying. That's fine, provided that you're ready to face up to life's difficulties again tomorrow. But it's not such good news if you persist in looking the other way whenever a problem presents itself, especially if it's connected with your work or health. It may be time to face a few facts, Capricorn.
