We are already taxed more than enough to pay for the proposed mass transit projects:

The City of L.A. alone takes in and spends $1.7 billion more per year than in 2004-05.

That means if we held spending at those levels, we would have an extra $51 billion in 30 years, rather than the $40 billion the new tax is projected to produce.

We're taxed more than enough. The problem is the spending.

NO NO NO. They never ever ever spend the money on the intended purpose of the bond or the tax. This is another LIE another way to try and get your money. Dont be fooled AGAIN!
Why is it that we have all had to cut back due to the high gas prices and food and utility increases but the city still wants more money to spend on shit that we just cant afford right now. Its called budget and the city needs to be on one. Everytime the mayor finds some pet project he comes up with a bond, or a tax. He is driving around in a gas hog telling you he needs more money for transportation so the illegal immigrants who cant afford the gas prices have a way to get to and from while we are paying for it again!!!!!! We need to stop the madness.

One thing we can all agree on here in the SGV is that we are not getting our fair share from LA County with regards to transportation funding.

When considering the new sales tax LA County wants us to vote for it is important to realize that LA is a monetary black hole with all the corruption going on. We have hard working Whites, Asians, Hispanics and Blacks who don't like getting screwed out here.

No Gold Line; then no sales tax and No Toll lanes! Refuse taxation without representation. Don't buy big ticket items in LA County, use the internet. And just revolt and disregard the toll lanes. If you get a ticket don't pay. It will only work if everyone joins in.

We need a succession movement from Los Angeles now. Those criminals will keep riding us for taxes until we're dead.

Who ever puts together a succession movement from Los Angeles will get honored with a statue at both ends of the SGV. The SGV has enough money to become the next Orange County and can be great if we use our money on ourselves. We should annex the unincorporated areas of LA that are a blight in our communities, fix them up and have nothing to do with Los Angeles County except maybe contract with them for emergency services when needed. We pay an arm and a leg for those services anyway.

It is as clear as day now. The SGV makes the money. We pay taxes. LA country takes money. They are tax takers. We give; they take and give it to anyone in LA County but us. That is the only relationship we have with LA County. Most recently they have been bullied by the San Fernando Valley mafia after this area ran a successful succession movement. Good for them, bad for us.

These bastards in LA City Hall and at the MTA think we are too complacent and stupid to put together a succession movement. LA County and those city hall bribe taking crooks think we are nothing more than a bunch of do nothing aging W.A.S.P’s coupled with gullible money making immigrants. Let’s pack our shit and leave and see how well they do when the gravy train stops.

Too bad the LA Daily News doesn't serve the SGV. They helped get the secession movement on the ballot in the San Fernando Valley. I doubt the Pasadena Star News which is owned by the LA Daily News has the balls to do this for the SGV.

One thing is for sure, everyone is sick of getting screwed out here by LA County and something has to be done right now; not later. Apparently our regional politicians have heard us loud and clear as Drier, Molina, Antonovich and Solis all say they will not support the tax hike if the Gold Line isn't built.

Garry Miller appears to be leading the charge for the SGV to get its share. Good for him. When was the last time all these politicians agreed on something? Amazing

The MTA must be dismantled or at the very least all current members voted out along with the incompetent LA mayor. This organization is full of corruption. No way should ANYONE in LA have to give these people another dime to piss away.

Of course they're backing a new tax. More money in their budget. Everyone loves to make new taxes when it means they get to waste more money quicker.

I remember when sales tax was 3% and the quality of life was better.

The San Fernando Valley and the LA Daily News should be commended for running that secession campaign a few years ago and getting some respect. It may not have been voted in but at least you got some respect from the corrupt downtown LA politicians.

Too bad the SGV hasn't done the same yet. The only reason the Gold Line was built was because the Feds forced LA County to give us funding. David Drier played a big part out here to get funding for the Gold Line. If it had been up to MTA and LA County the Gold Line would never have been built. If only more people knew. No on this sales tax! Prop 13 is already being dismantled with all these sneaky county bonds.

We already pay the highest or near highest taxes in this state. We have enough money but with ridiculous salaries people don't earn, money squandered, etc. Government squanders money like there isn't any tomorrow. Aside from that, the economy is so bad the last thing you want to do is raise taxes. People (including professionals like social workers, nurses, teaches) are having enough problems paying for rent, groceries, etc. Electricity, water, rates have gone up, etc. People are going to stop buying things as they already have but it will be worse..more businesses will go out of business, groceries (non-food items will cost more - are these folks nuts? We need responsible government and less taxes. I wonder how many tax dollars it cost to place the new signs for Valley Glen on the 170 freeway. Not necessary and a total waste of money. That's called squandering. To LA City, County, and the State stop wasting money hand over fist. Stop squandering money and we might have enough money for a decent transporation system and streets. Those of us who pay taxes know that our tax dollars don't go for the projects intended. We have roads with huge potholes on the freeway and can't even get those fixed. Trains aren't safe look at Alvarez and the guy who just committed suicide, busses aren't safe look at what happened with the Orange Line and others, and driving isn't safe because those who drive drunk, etc.
