Another marginal outfielded who can hit, but where will he play? What no JONES to BoSox, now that would be a good deal- this may be a clubhouse buster Manny cant field? Pierre is better then Manny & Pierre cant field, JOnes can field but no hit- so the Dodgers have FIVE outfielders- 2 who cant field/throw & @ least 1 who cant hit? Great job, this will help the klubhouse commaradere

I disagree. The Dodger HAVE to do something! This probably means the end for Juan Pierre though and I thought he did well. This also means that Jones will take a deep seat on the bench. He will probably have to come in as a defensive replacement late in games. My question is, do the Dodgers have plans to sign him for next season? Or is this just for the rest of the year. I don't know where we are with the contracts of Furcal, Schmidt and Penny. Maybe their money can help keep Manny here.

Can the Dodgers fit Manny's ego into their club house.? Player wise they did not rally give up much. Manny is going to have to give up the "Let Manny be Manny BS and become a Dodger.
The first time he dosen't run out a ground ball he will deserve to get booed. That being said, everyone in the organization from McCort to the ball girls on the foul lines hass an obligation to help Manny become a Dodger.

Manny is goingto ahve to grow up. Being a Dodger is differnt than being a Sox. The first time he dosen't run out a ground ball he deserves to get booed. That being said everyone has an obligation to help Manny become a Dodger. Its a good move if he gives 100% and if LA gives him 100%. If it dosen't work what have they lost? Nada!

Put Jones on waivers! Then the Dodgers are at least back to the 4 outfielder issue. Ramirez, Kemp, Either, seems solid like way solid....

Boston fan, glad to get rid of the winer. He can't run or catch, a great hitter. Should be on team with DH rule. Another blunder by the Dodgers.

C'mon guys. You're trying to tell me aquiring one of the best hitters in the game today is not going to help us out? HAHA. See, most sports fans let emotions guide their thoughts. Manny wasn't happy and he let it show on the field. Granted, I understand that is definitly not the way to do it, but who hasn't pouted over work or things of the such? lol, c'mon. Why should we hold them up to such a high moral fiber... they've never had to deal with the real world like most of us do. That is where we learn everything. Guaranteed, a majority of rich people don't have too much street smarts... as well as book smarts with some.

I love having a problem of 4 more than capable outfielders. Pierre has been doing well since his scare in Spring Training that followed a little bit into the start of the season. When we are playing against a pitcher with a slow release, or a catcher who doesn't throw well, then Pierre will be our guy.

if you look at the angels, that is how they play most of the time. Situational ball. That is what we will be doing. I'm not comparing the two teams together, but that is how you win more games.

That's about it, back to the real world.

Taking dives when he plays, as it suits his mood (end of 2006, anyone?) Manny violates the essential spirit of the game, betraying his roots, his teammates, his fans, and the core of any contract, baseball included: you give what you've got, you get what was promised. He tanked, and instead of being run from the game by a vigilant Boston community for stealing (millions) under false pretenses,(as any player of lesser gifts would have been) and a commissioner who could break free of the cash register just long enough to understand his industry's obligations to the larger community, we got all this psycho-babble "Manny being Manny" smoke. He's as corrupt as Pete Rose, and as poisonous.
The genuinely "quirky" stuff I kinda like, since sports is treated way too seriously by too many lost souls, who seem to need some bunch of strangers in funny pants to "win" for them, at any cost, financial and ethical. But he has gone way beyond that.
In a saner society, the privilege of being paid to play would have been taken from him in an instant, the first time he failed honest effort for the absolutely obscene amounts of money an ongoing failure of collective wisdom assigned him, winning and talent poor seconds to the absolutely fundamental issues of honor and mutual trust. Fifty-eight years a Dodger and baseball fan in this corner. No more. The stables need cleaning, the scribes need souls.

It all deopends on who plays!!!! Manny, Kemp and Ethier is a solid outfield. Jones, Pierre and Manny is probably who Brain-Dead Joe will play.

How the hell is it a bad trade? We don't pay a dime of his salary, we didn't give up any of our young players (Kemp. Loney, Martin, etc), and we get a huge bat in the lineup. I also think that Torre might have some positive influence on him.

Finally! Some guaranteed offense. Not sure why Dodger fans wouldnt want a bat like this. Sure, he gives up a little on defense, but we need the offense at this point. And we didnt give up anyone huge. Liken this to the Pau Gasol trade- it was a steal. Torre will shape him up. I agree w/ cesleader.

I think our post-season chances just shot way up.
