How long would it take when someone is going to bring up that there should be a high fence to be placed up there.

Not that it is going to stop for someone committing suicide. But someone will bring it up.

How much do you want to bet the person that brings up the fence will also be the one that will not support the bigger fence by the borders?

Too bad there are still people that keep climbing up the barricade that is there just to see another couple of feet of the shore.

An alternative to a high fence is safer access to those areas that people are trying to reach when they climb over the existing one. Many folks go over the wall as a shortcut to the beach below, which can be accessed from a footpath several hundred yards away.

My sincere condolences to the family; suicide is so hard for family members to deal with. How high the fences may or may not be has nothing to do with someone commiting suicide, and suicide has absolutely nothing to do with border fences. I can't believe that even in a story such as this, some self-righteous bigot has to stick their (worthless) 2 cents in.

It is disgusting to me that someone would even mention border fences in a story like this....How ignorant! I strongly believe that even if high fences we're to be placed along the coast people would still try and find a way to jump off or what not. Too bad for the dead woman and her family.

Do we really want fences along the entire coast of ours? Sometimes people use the cliffs as a means. A fence is not going to stop this It is merely going to clutter up our beautiful coastline. How very sad for her family. I agree with what Pedro said about stopping the use of that boy;s name. Many, many people have fallen from those cliffs long before him. Let it go and quit comparing every other one after him to that incident.

JUST BCUZ SOME DUMBASS SELFISH PEOPLE DECIDE TO COMMIT SUICIDE OFF THE CLIFFS...A BIG TALL FENCE WOULD MAKE OUR BEAUTIFUL COASTLINE LOOK UGLY!! IF PEOPLE WANT TO KILL THEMSELVES SO BE IT... WHY SHOULD WE HAVE TO "PROTECT" THESE INDIVIDUALS THAT WILL FIND A WAY TO HOP A FENCE ANYWAY?! I'M TOTALLY AGAINST A FENCE ALONG THE COAST!!

You better get used to it, the guy jumped and he is the biggest name to do it. He is always gonna be the first name mentioned.

No fences. Keep the coast free of anything that might hinder our access regardless of our purpose. For those who want to end their lives, they'll find a way.

So sorry that anyone feels there is no better answer...I wish she would have known, people care..even people she didn't know. I wish people would be kinder and reach out to strangers..you never know when a smile will save a life. I'm so sorry for her family and to all she left behind.

I agree with you wholeheartedly about the devastating effect depression can have on a person and the need for compassion and empathy for people who suffer from it. I just wanted to point out that it's not technically a disease but rather a condition that arises from chemical imbalances in the brain. These imbalances can usually be overcome through awareness, counseling, lifestyle changes (exercise & diet) and sometimes medication (though be careful), It's too bad she didn't find the help she needed...My condolences.

Not much you can do to stop a person determined to take their life. Unless the fence is 300 feet high or eletricfied.
