Give me one murder that has happened on Ainsworth, Menlo, Orchard, or Hoover all between 120th and 117th St., that is my neighborhood, and yes I have heard of the Hoover Crips to the north of my neighborhood, also the Denver Lanes to the West of my neighborhood, and lets not forget the Raymond Ave. Crips to the east of my neighborhood, so don't think we are living in a fantasy world, we are raising our kids, and reaching out to those that either refuse to raise their's or can't raise theres. And yes, I am an Obama supporter, but like I said, our neighborhood showed growth no matter who was in the White House

You must be smoking the smae thing WestSideJesse is! One to gang violence? Hardly. As someone who works in LE and has worked gangs in that and many other areas, that is simply not true. Ever hear of Hoover Crips? If you haven't, then you have had your head buried deep into the sand, because they hail from your very area. And I have been to multiple homicides all throughout that area. Now that I think about it, you seem like an Obama supporter.....letting the facts slip by just to try and help your own cause.

Hard to do in cities where the bad outnumber the good. Or the scared outnumber the brave. Or the lazy outnumber the motivated. Or the law breakers outnumber the law abiding. These are the issues I see in my city. people wont "rat" on their own. It is a shame, everyone suffers.

You people are some stupid **** idiots to think Obama is the cause of people doing dumb ****! When Bush and his father white racist **** was in office this is when things really got messed up. They were some straight up peckers and they didn't try and keep it disclosed. Bush f..... this country up and went out with a bang. Then here comes Obama having to try and work a freakin puzzle to get things in order! People get your facts correct before you get on here saying NOTHING. Guess what race I am?
First of all I amazed at how many Obama supporters still exist. If you driver around the Black areas of LA you will see on the street corners vendors selling t-shirts that say,“My President is Black,” a picture of the Obama family with the words “The First Family” and more. So now blacks feel empowered, I guess I mistakenly thought they would stop committing violent crime..Silly me. Also, it seems that everybody blamed George W for every problem in the world, so you flipping liberals quit being hypocrites. Obama is the worst excuse for an American and he is a liar. It’s ironic to see a Black with an Obama insignia and yet still act uncivilized.

Despite this Country’s biggest mistake (NObama) the economy will turn around. It’s just going to struggle longer, due to Pelosi and her crew of knuckle heads. I know you liberals don’t like the framers of the USA (all white men) but they were prepared when they wrote the Constitution.

Mitch, I completely agreed you your post until I got to the, "The police and the phony politicians are pretty much interested in getting more power and raising revenue for their cities." Such a comment made my realize that you are just like all the others who hide behind a computer and talk jibberish about the police. If you had a pair you'd quit your carwash job and join. If you haven't worn the uniform, you do not know what it is like, so keep your comments to yourself before you bite the hand that "serves" you.

I agree with Mitch. I think they point is, who really cares about whether the police are good, bad or indifferent. They cannot PROTECT you from crime. They can chase bad people and write reports. Thats about it.

How about empowering citizens to take care of themselves? This is done by ensuring that LAW-abiding citizens are armed, trained, and knowledgeable of the law. The police hate this, because their union lobby is strong and only measure success by the number of sworn officers on the force. So if you live in the city of Hawthorne, only 100 people have the ability to to "protect" you (at any given time, its half that). Feel safe now? Enjoy being a victim.

Obama is NOT black by any means. How many kids in south la do you think are named Barack Hussein Obama? Very few, now if he was named, Al Sharpton or Jessie Jackson, or even Sherman Hensley, then he would be "black". He is more like people named Osama Bin Laden or Nidal Malik Hasan... they could both pass as half black half white too.

Robert, ever hear of Sir Robert Peel? His 7th tenant states:
"Police, at all times, should maintain a relationship with the public that gives
reality to the historic tradition that the police are the public and the public
are the police, the police being only members of the public who are paid to
give full-time attention to duties which are incumbent on every citizen in the
interests of community welfare and existence."
You are out of line in stating that police unions would be upset by a well trained, armed citizenship. It has nothing to do with police unions, as police work would continue regardless. In fact, I think you will find that most officers would love to see a well trained and armed citizen dumping a bad guy prior to their arrival. You are right, the police can not be everywhere, and as Sir Robert Peel indicated over 100 years ago, it is the duty of ALL citizens (of which the police are part of) to contribute to the communities welfare and existence! Still, how many people in the ghetto areas of LA will step up and do their part???? Very few. Thus, they continue to live in the conditions they do. If they want change, they need to step up and help themselves and get involved. Blogging isn't going to chase away gang members.

Let me know how you got your CCW approved by the Hawthorne Chief of Police.

Really? They won't give you one? That's funny. I thought Robert Peel said citizens are the police? Sure hard to protect yourself from armed thugs with a 100 year old philosophy book.

I wonder if these are 2 of the same guys that did the carjacking and ended up at that 99 Center Store on Crenshaw and 135th. The MO seems to be carjack and try to rob a store on Crenshaw close to the 105. If so, I'm hoping third times the charm and the next time will be their last for a very very long time.

How did a discussion about two tree swingers robbing the Auto Zone turn into an Obama debate? They don't look THAT much alike. How about we blame Obama and then deport them.

Robert, you really are showing your ignorance now. If you arguments had anything behind them previously, you are losing ground fast with the stupid comments.
You obviously did not comprehend the meaning of the Peel phrase. It indicates that people need to get involved as they have essentially the same obligations to be involved in the betterment of the community as the police. And I know you're not quick on the take, but most every police agency in the free world still uses the basics of Peels established theories for police work.(Not philosophy genuis!) I guess thousands and thousands of police agencies around the world can read and comprehend Peel's thoughts better than you can. Please don't respond, at this point I don't want to explain every little detail to you.
