Everyone knows that using an outside ATM in the middle of the night is like playing Russian Roulette. The Bank should not be held responsible. People have to be accountable for their own actions.

Any individual with an ounce of common sense should know going to any ATM, at night, alone, is dangerous, and you take a risk in doing so. The bank is not responsible for notifying the public of crime in an area. That is what police blotters and community reports are for.
This is just a family out for money, looking for a cash cow, and pull the "I'm too dumb to be responsible for myself and must blame others for my stupidity" routine. |

dme, I agree with you. Even in daylight you have to be aware.

I agree with all 3 above blogs. You do have to be responsible for your own actions raher than blame someone else.

Okay 1st of all its 11:30 at night in Ingelwood and he was going to an ATM, I dont think there needs to be a warning to the public. Come on...COMMON SENSE!!!!!!

Okay first of all he was using an ATM at 11:30 at night in INGELWOOD!!!! Any one with common sense would not use one at that time of night and if you have to go somewhere where there are alot of people. I live in Northeast area and the police station has an ATM inside. The family is just looking for money!!! Use an ATM at your own risk, the bank should not have to post warnings... IT'S COMMON SENSE!!!!

You all need to get a heart, you need Jesus to put a triple bypass inside the physical and turn it into spiritual. It could have been you or one of your loved one's but still in all. We need to learn to pray and mourn for others. Quit being so carnally evil and selfish. Watch your tongue because it is more powerful than you think. This was a good, saved man who happen to be in the wrong place @ wrong time and many lives were/are being saved because of his sacrifice. How about cofessing your tongues to Jesus and being a little more compassionate. May God touch all of your hearts and minds 1-6.

Why are you guys blaming the person who used the ATM late at night? Why not blame the stupid low life criminals who did this. In other countries like Asia its totally safe to use the ATM at what ever hours. Something is terribly wrong with our youth and justice system.

I can't blame the victim, but the bank is not responsible for the incident. It was the criminal who is at fault for this loss

How insensitive people have become. Would you blame a person driving down the freeway at night, who is shot? Mylus was a good person, he probably spoke to the person as he walked up, not knowing what would happen to him. He was that kind of person. When you work nights you tend to do things at night, such as going to the ATM, shopping etc. To the people who don't know that area, it is not a poor area. The homes in that area run about a million dollars. Drive through Ladera Heights and see what I'm talking about. Unfortunately the criminals have cars. Rest in peace Mylus you are missed.

Why do you need money at 11:30pm? |

We are being commpassionate, but compassion is lost when people do not take account for irresponsible actions. I think his family is straight up greedy. It is sad to lose a love one, but anyone and everyone who uses an ATM at night knows of the risks associated with it. How is B of A responsible for what happened? I can't believe the lawyer said "BofA should have had a security guard, or educated the public about the dangers of the ATM. NEWSFLASH: ALL ATMS ARE DANGEROUS! Doesn't matter what neighborhood you go to, or what time of day. |

I speak from experience. I lost my uncle about 10 years ago to a itrresponsible decision on his part. He was driving on the freeway, and the truck stopped. He got out and raised the hood, and started to fiddle with the engine...in the middle of the freeway. Some jackass came around and hit the truck, killing him instantly. Now it was a sad situation, but he brought it upon himself. it was a dumb decision to stand in the freeway working on the truck. His family was sad, but they sure didn't sue Caltrans, they didn't sue the truck maker, and they didn't sue the other driver. You know why? because they are not F-ing greedy, and they knew it was my uncles fault for getting out of the truck.

What a sad story, sometimes people just don't think something bad will happen to them. Most people need more common sense these days. |

I know EXACTLY where this ATM is, I live in Baldwin Village, it is about 5 minutes by car, and (as far as I can tell) 1 of 2 BofA ATMs in the area. The other one is on La Brea and Rodeo. Somoene got killed a while ago, so the ATM's there do not work after it gets dark. Which makes no sense because there are 2 other ATM's in the same shopping center that do work.
But speaking about the one where the guy just got killed, I used to stop there after I got off work at 11:30pm. One day I drove over there after shopping at Ralphs, and 2 "thugs" were standing there, right infront of the ATM, at midnight. Don't know what they were doing, and I sure as hell didn't find out, because I kept on driving. I realised the situation was not normal and I used commoon sense and got the hell out of there. |

Greed is right! In addition to Bank of America, why not sue the gun manufacturer, the bullet manufacturer, the police department for not being on patrol at that ATM, and his employer for making him work the night shift. Shame on any family that can place a cash value on the loss of a loved one. In the event this family does win, I hope they use 100% of their payment to publish and educate the public on the dangers of using ATM machines. |
|
I am with you on that point. We all know the risks involved. I wonder if I walk through Santa Ana tonight about 2AM wearing a Rolex and carrying about $2K if my family will be able to sue Orange County because they failed to protect me? |

Just being in Inglewood is hazardous to your life. Here's your warning people: Stay as far away as possible!

The loss of a life is always tragic, especially when there is RANDOM violence involved. But let's not confuse anger & grief with GREED. BofA did not contribute to this issue. You could make a better case for bringing a lawsuit against the parents of the gunman for producing such a horrible human being.

Hey, Co-worker, Yes we all need Christ and I believe he would tell us ( He has told us)to use common sense. We need to take accountability for our actions, good or bad. If people keep suing for these types of occurances we'll all end up paying.
