That's ok Kary, we get the point. I have a feeling that English is not your first language, but don't get discouraged because of the two comments above.
Some people just have NO class when it comes to posting on this board. I'd just love to see them try to write in another language and see how well they fare.

IF I wrote gibberish like this, I'd cut my fingers off.
It's nice that I have a copy cat poster though, which means that more than one person is reading this thread...hence the word WE!

Why, you were. That's why your first post was numbered 1.
Now don't you feel a little stupid asking a question like that?

if your going to try and educate people make sure your story is straight! But I see your a "truck driver" hahaha so your excused for not being so smart....
Your quote::An engine brake works by holding the exhaust valves open so the engine slows it self down because there is no compression...WRONG! The Valves stay closed as in exhaust brake...if they were open you would a intake brake with the air going thru the motor and no engine retarder.
With a Jacobs engine brake the exhaust valves are opened momentarily at the top of the compression stroke, then closed so the piston has to descend and pull a vacuum. Fuel to the injectors is shut off when the "Jake" is in operation.
I drove gasoline tank trucks to pay for grad school. Every driver is required by 49CFR to perform a pre-trip inspection that includes a brake inspection before leaving the yard, and at the start of each shift if on a cross country trip. I learned how to do a proper brake check while an undergrad, where I drove school busses to pay for college. Later on, driving trucks, I never once saw a truck driver do a proper brake check. It is taught in driving school, then immediately forgotten. Trucking companies pay by the mile or by the load most often, and there is no pay for a good pre-trip inspection. Drivers are like any worker, they won't do anything they aren't paid to do. Most truck companies run drivers hard, expecting tight schedules to be met regardless of traffic or weather, or hours of service regulations. Trying to run legal will get you in trouble with more companies than not, in my experience. If only the public really know how many worn out brakes, broken springs and tired drivers there are on our freeways.
This particular driver should probably go to jail for the rest of his life, and so probably should his dispatchers and terminal manager. We are told in the industry when I was there that management and dispatchers would be held legally liable for such crashes, but I have yet to see this happen. It needs to.

Now you know why the Mexican trucking project is dead. Surely this guy, whatever his race, was responsible for his ship? NO. If he is hispanic, the law does not reflect his stupidity. If he were white, they would have RaiseD his bail.
