Eric Garcetti surely looks like a comedian in that photo, a "Steve Martin" type comedian. And he does look like a phony too.

Right. That's EXACTLY what we need: a new bureaucracy to "evaluate" the Mayor's and City Council's rob-Peter-to-pay-Paul policies.

Because it would really, really, really be independent from the Mayor and City Council.

Sure, the Mayor and City Council would pick the staff, set the funding, and decide each year whether to keep or abolish the office, but it would still be really, really, really independent, and would definitely point out waste and counter-productive policies.

Hey, have you seen my rainbow unicorn anywhere?

Maybe they read some of the postings that have placed! Or some staffer who is passing the word. Really sad state of affairs that one of our nations HIGHEST paid city councils passes some of the lamest bills in the nation!

They admit that they have no idea if the programs they push for and actively promote help in any way at all. Now they want to create another agency to tell them? How about some of the 30 staff members each council person is allowed pool together and do it for free? You know, prove you know what you are doing instead of doing the bidding of the highest bidders.

Eric Garcetti need to stop making moves for the sake of running for the next office. He is already ahead of the game. He is a visionary who really cares but he about to loose my respect. Don't worry Eric stick to the true u and not what those with money want you to be.......I am sure you going to make it. Your dad was a good man.

What a bunch of idiots!!!! You dont' give money then try and find out whether they work or not. Who runs a business that way and now this is proof why Los Angeles is in the worst economic crisis ever. Garcetti is suppose to be the leader of this group but with this thinking he's needs to sit down and keep his mouth shut. This is just another way to have one of the council friends make money all off our tax dollars.

An agency similar to the GAO would make a great deal of sense. If you spend some time reading what GAO writes, they are often harshly critical of existing government programs. I work in defense cost analysis, and their critiques of program management and cost estimation are usually dead on. LA could learn from the GAO's example.

Eric Garcetti has once again showed his leadership by having an independent assessment of legislation passed by the City Council instead of going with the status quo.

Eric grew up in Encino and is a friend of those in the San Fernando Valley and all parts of the City.

He would be a great Mayor. The City and the Valley would be well served by Eric as they already are by his position as City Council President.
