100 residents' tires slashed in San Pedro

Business was brisk Friday morning at a San Pedro tire store, and it didn't take long for employees and their customers to figure out why.

Bob Henning - San Pedro isn't exactly one of the decent parts of LA. It's basically ghetto to begin with.

As for these "kids"...... 10 years sounds about right to me. You don't deserve to be in society if you can do something that lame.

Ten years is a little steep. People do less for drive bys now a days. 2 years with lots of hard, clean up the trash dump community service. Or fill up pot holes in the hot sun.

Jimmy, you shouldn't talk about something you clearly know nothing about. I'll stay here in San Pedro by the Ocean; you enjoy your summer in whatever hot and smoggy part of LA you live in. As for ten years, that sounds a bit loony. Maybe the heat and smog have gotten to you.

All I can say is Thanks Mexio. Call it prejudice if you like, but I guarentee the kids that did this are Mexican. We left San Pedro a year ago and moved out of state because living in San Pedro was like living in Mexico. Hasta La Vista Baby.
Amen, I live in HC where they are everywhere at every park, every corner, every store or street. I swear the other day I thought I was in Ensenada driving down Lomita Blvd.
Where were the cops when 100 tires were slashed? The usual place, anywhere but where the crimes are taking place. Pretty soon the harbor area will be no different than east LA, we're pretty close right now.

San Pedro certainly isn't the "Bambi sniffing flowers" town that the "real Pedrans" think it is, but then neither is Manhattan Beach, Redondo or Torrance when it comes to vandalism.

I recall recent acts of vandalism in those cities too (usually about this time of year). Windows shot out of cars or broken by baseball bats comes to mind. I live in the Country Hills section of Torrance and had my car stolen out of my driveway (an area that also in past years saw a drive-by shooting - at a house - and a bomb explosion).

We've got to stop the race baiting and use these forums to provide insight and solutions. The real story here isn't who did it, but where were the cops? It took a LOT of time to slash those tires and no one appears to have been on patrol. Maybe they were all off getting fitted for a new bunny suit...

Um... Are you saying that there weren't any hispanics in California before Bush took office? Or vandalism?

Kudos to Big Bob Henning from Tennessee. He did the smart thing and moved away. I would urge Dano from LA to do the same. I understand when WHITE people get mad to see their neighborhoods become transformed into places like Tijuana or East Los Angeles. What I don't understand is why they continue to live here. If its that BAD just move to Montana, Wyoming, or practically any other state where Mexicans choose not to invade. Its that simple. The fact that you haven't moved away thus far tells me that you're all talk and no action. I'm sure you live your life this way. You don't have the courage to do what is best for you, instead you opt to bitch and complain. Grow a pair and move away. Hell, I'll even pitch in for your U-Haul expense.

It would be easier to weed out the suspects if the parents of those children who were not home at that time of night on that day would call the police station and tell the cops that so they can better target their investigation. See how simple that is?

How can people automatically say it was Mexicans that did the slashing of the tires? San Pedro is made up of many, many different ethnic cultures. From Croations, Mexicans, Italians, Philopinos, Whites, Asians, etc. I can't believe we are in 2008 and people still automatically play race cards. I'm white and I've seen just as many stupid white criminals in stories as any others.

I'm not sure what race it was that slashed the tires, but it doesn't matter. I only hope some of the stupid kids or young adults start talking and someone comes forward to the police with some names and then the police can start putting a case together.

Also, I live in a very nice area of Redondo Beach and I've seen more smashed windshields than I'd like to see. Vandalism is a wide spread problem and it happens everywhere, not just in San Pedro or Lomita.

May God help the people who always look at the race cards and think they are above everyone else.

Or a good caning, like they do in Singapore, problem solved.
That would be a good idea, if not for bleeding heart liberals, giving people slaps on the wrist for crimes like this.

FYI, latino kids don't slash, they jack tires...Some are so economically disadvantaged, why waste a good tire when they can take a pair and put them on their 1989 Honda ;]

Here's an idea....let's wait to see who actually committed the crimes before jumping to any conclusions. To do anything else is wrong.

Did we not learn anything from the recent story of the "veteran" beaten with a skateboard in Redondo? Things aren't always what you assume.

The only true beating I ever saw was a group of USC frat boys jumping a hispanic dude at Alpine Village. Was I ever embarrassed to be blonde at that moment.

I lived in Pedro for many years and survived.

And here's a newsflash. Criminals have cars and can travel anywhere within driving distance, so every community is vunerable.

Same way some Navy boys and LAPD beat up on Mexicans in the 1940's. Racism even today, just look at the previous comments. What a shame.
