SEIU is very active in using strikes to ramrod through what they feel they need/deserve. Given the current state of the economy with rampant unemployment, foreclosures at record levels and everyone suffering from money woes, they are adding to conditions that will detrimentally affect vast numbers of non-union workers and the poor. They could have taken a decent offer now and wait to get what they really want when conditions are better, but the union management doesnt suffer like the workers when they call strikes so you can expect them to ignore the economic consequences. You have to admire a group that thinks only of themselves.

If there is a strike an eager replacement work force awaits outside most Home Depot and UHaul locations.

those guys outside Home depot will increase in numbers soon, the people that work at car washes are being actively herded into setting up a union and will be protesting at car washes very soon. The United Steelworkers is also trying to organize them with SEIU, after destroying our steel industry you would think they would stay in hiding. I guess they realize that car washing cant be sent to China or Mexico. Little do they know taht when the union finally gets in place, they wont be able to work 12-14 hour days since the owners wont let them work ore than 8 because it costs too much. they will make more per hour but less per week because of lower hours and union dues that will support payoff big for the organizers. It wont take long before they leave car washing ( actually car drying and vacuuming) and show up at Home Depot, the janitors will be there to greet them!
