Wegmans is Ok, but always crowded. I just want to buy a couple of things. Besides the parking at Wegmans is completly inadaqate. You know opening day will be a nightmare. I was at opening day in Fairfax...OMG it took us a hour to park and they had a parking garage. This one doesn't as far as I can tell.

Having a Wegmans in your town is a gift and a curse. I love it but you have to go there at 10pm on a Friday, any other time prepare to bring a baton to get around the store. Traffic will be noticeably increased I'm sure.

The Fairfax location's parking is bad.The parking at Dulles isn't bad. Unless you go at the busy time on weekends, you won't hit massive crowds. Even when they are busy, you can get in and out fast, and if you do hit a crowd, it os worth it for the service alone.

Weekends are quite possibly the worst time to hit up a Wegmans...anywhere. I've been to the Fairfax one many times, as well as one back where my family lives in NJ, and it seems to be the same exact MO. I personally recommend hitting it up during the day on weekdays (if you can), or right after work before most people get home. It's a great store but it seems like they don't anticipate just how popular they are when they build new ones. I'll never forget the time I went to the Fairfax Wegmans on the morning of Thanksgiving Day to pick up a bottle of wine, and seeing a sea of people running around the store like maniacs trying to pick up turkeys. It was pretty funny.

Even in Buffalo, NY where we have 11 Wegmans stores to choose from, parking can be brutal on weekends, especially our Alberta Dr, Sherdian Dr, and McKinley stores which are our 3 biggest in the area. There is no doubt that it is a great store, but you just have to time it right. Weekdays usually work best. Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning are typically the worst day to go. As for the 1 person saying Wegmans is way overpriced, they really are not on staple items. Our hometown store Tops (used to be owned by Ahold and run into the ground by them before being sold last year) used to be best on price. Wegmans has since taken those honors, and a lot of market share away from the hometown store. My advice is that you just have to take a look and you can definitely save money shopping there. Prepared foods and the high end things is where it can get pricey.

Went to the Grand opening and there were about 200 people in line. It was a zoo. It just got more crowded as time went on. It was lovely though. Huge and the preprepared section was great. Hopefully, it dies down around dinner time.

very nice store. Crowds? It's not that bad, sure there's plenty of people, but we got in and got out with exzctly what we wanted without any problems. It is huge too, bigger than Sterling and Fairfax.

We ventured out to Wegmans from noon to 3 on grand opening day. I wanted nothing to do with the parking situation, so I parked over by Staples. It wasn't as crowded as I thought it would be... I had dreams of standing in line for hours to simply check out. But everything went smoothly. I really like the indoor/outdoor seating. It's really crowded around the meatcase and prepared foods area, but the crowd thins out as you get to the other side of the store. I don't think I saw everything, will have to make another trip there soon.

Don't understand the draw to come to a grocery store on opening day...then I won't be able to explain to you why I got there about 4:30am so that I could be the first customer in the store. Didn't get to see the whole thing like I would have but it is nice as is every Wegmans. However, I thought the lighting was a little brighter than usual and I'm not too keen on the different layout....

I've been twice now and I love it. I agree, the layout is a little different then Ashburn/Ffx but I think I have the hang of it. I was in love with the new Harris Teeter but after doing my weekly grocery shopping at Wegmans this Saturday- I have to agree that their prices are a LOT lower on regular groceries. Their prepared foods are excellent but very pricy. And their coffee/pastry bar isn't too shabby, and a lot lower priced than Sbux.

We went to Wegman's on opening day and loved it. Of course opening day was crowded, but we have been back several times. During the weekday mornings it is not crowded. The bakery, deli, cheese and butcher sections are like an enclosed European Market. There is also a two story café area, including an outdoor terrace. The grocery store itself has a wide variety of items. The Wegman's brand of gorcery items is value priced and taste is as good or better than brand name items. We will be shopping there frequently.

Hubby and I were finally was able to go to Wegmans on Sunday. It felt just like I was back in Rochester - except on a much grander scale!
The cheese lady was extremely helpful and had a small group of us following her around trying different cheeses. We bought every one we tried. After that we ended up in the wine section and cleaned house there as well. We splurged on a $45 red wine, among others, that was highly recommended.
They had a wine tasting going as well (cab. sav. and chardonnay.) There was a live jazz band playing in the wine section and they were good!!
Now it's time to light up the firepit and have some wine and cheese. Hmmmm!
There's a separate entrance for the wine section which was nice.
Harris Teeter is open 24 hours, so they'll still my business as well.
