Typical WMI tactics. If there's a dollar to be made, Waste Management wants it. This is a classic scenario where WM comes in and cuts the price for waste disposal. They divert the waste stream (and monies for other public services) away from the county landfill. Less public funds for fewer public projects/services. Believe me when I say WMI did not become the largest waste company in the world by making prices more "competitive" and community friendly. Legal Beagle is correct. The world's largest garbage fox is ready to eat your hen house.

They want to truck out Horry County garbage while WMI receives in garbage from New York City?

The following info is cited from under the heading 'Utilities' at this link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manhattan

"The New York City Department of Sanitation is responsible for garbage removal.[201] The bulk of the city's trash ultimately is disposed at mega-dumps in Pennsylvania, Virginia, South Carolina and Ohio (via transfer stations in New Jersey, Brooklyn and Queens) since the 2001 closure of the Fresh Kills Landfill on Staten Island.[202] A small amount of trash processed at transfer sites in New Jersey is sometimes incinerated at waste-to-energy facilities. Like New York City, New Jersey and much of Greater New York relies on exporting its trash to far-flung places."

Mayor stoudenmire, why do you continue to support Waste Management when you know they are trying to destroy our Solid Waste Authority? What are you going to tell us when our garbage fee double and triple?
