John McCain is a four-term senator and former two-term U.S. representative from Arizona. He ran for the Republican presidential nomination in 2000, but was defeated by current President Bush. McCain's work within the Congress has earned him a reputation as a reformer. He has not shied away from crossing the aisle, and has worked with Democrats in the past to sponsor legislation. Before entering politics, McCain was a pilot in the Navy (1958-1981). He spent five-and-a-half years as a Vietnamese prisoner of war at the infamous "Hanoi Hilton," where he was placed in solitary confinement and tortured. Other facts: McCain's Navy honors include the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Legion of Merit, Purple Heart, and the Distinguished Flying Cross. McCain and his 2nd wife adopted a daughter in 1993 from an orphanage in Bangladesh, run by Mother Teresa.

John McCain is the only decent person I have seen so far. Hillary is hilarious. She is afraid to even say Merry Christmas. I don't trust the Democrats. I am afraid they will let more muslims into the country.

Actually I liked Huckabee the best and then Romney but I'd vote for McCain anyday over Obama and Hillary. I sent an e mail to the McCain official election web site about a month ago and no one responded----that turned me off. I asked what is his plan to deal with all the illegals already here and I recd no response. I am so pissed about the illegals and our govts complete failure in this regard. Oh yes, much is being done now but for many yrs little was done--stupid!!

He has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership. He has never voted to raise congressional pay. He has never taken a government-paid junket. He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch. He voted against the Patriot Act. He voted against regulating the Internet. He voted against the Iraq war. He does not participate in the lucrative congressional pension program. He returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the U.S. treasury every year. Congressman Paul introduces numerous pieces of substantive legislation each year, probably more than any single member of Congress.

I read an article recently in New York Magazine that scared the heck out of me. It pointed out the sad fact that McCain barely has to even try anymore! Hillary is so busy trying to bury Obama and the vote is so close that it seems an almost certainty that McCain will win. It pointed out how many people have switched parties this election. Republicans who like Obama and wish he'd join the McCain ticket and Republicans who like Hillary. Democrats who like Hillary, but would vote for McCain if Obama is the Dems choice. It is almost confusing!!!! No, it is! All I know is that I am of a mind ficle enough to believe that Obama is the next great hope. We'll see and it will be a wild ride.
